    Most people here use an IDE (such as Code::Blocks or even DevCpp - which is not very good but enough for single-file small programs etc), not Notepad - although it is useful to be able to compile from command prompt.

    Don't they have a vim for windows? They do and I bet it works! Replace your notepad with vim. Vim is the most incredible piece of software I've ever seen, bar none -- web browser, vice city, whatever.

    ps. just ignore the GUI parts, it's all devolution
