    Homework

    Attention to all....

The purpose of this board is not for other to do your homework for you! Try things out work on your own, homework has a purpose. If you still have trouble with a specific thing or whatever please feel free to ask. But please DO NOT ask people to do your entire homework for you, it simply annoys people most of the time.

    Thank you
    Kermi3

If you're new to the boards, welcome and reading this will help you get started.

    ffs

i totally agree, along with (im guessing) the majority of this board. What i do not understand, though, is why one would pursue in a programming course (of any language) and expect to gain knowledge and experience programming, when they are unwilling to even preform their set work.

USA, for example, posted a 'homework' question, literallly without even a given attempt or segment of code.

i am not attacking USA directly, and i in no way call myself an experienced programmer. The only thing i wish to express to people who wish to program, is that practise will make you incounter problems, which will result in your knowledge expanding and, if you enjoy programming, then give it a go! if you dont, why are you bothering doing the subject/course in the first place.

In the engineering course I'm doing, there is a generic first year for all students... Civil engineers who are never going to program a computer for the rest of their lives are being forced to learn C... whereas I, interested in software engineering, have just spent 10 weeks designing and building a bridge...

I definitely feel some sympathy for people being forced to learn a fairly specific topic they'll never need, but you're right... it's not fair to ask you guys to spend your time answering questions for someone who really doesn't care.

    This is worth registering for...

Yea, when I first came here, I was really disappointed at seeing so many of the topics asking for what are clearly homework answers. It's not just that I have a problem with circumventing the purpose of homework (which I do), but it really seems to dumb down the board too.

Well if the person had done a fair amount of the program already, posted their code, and was polite in asking questions I wouldn't hesitate to help. Sadly, there are a few juniors here who think it is their right to be given help - it is a privilige. The best way to learn is to ask, but don't expect someone to do the work you are too lazy to do.

I also agree. But please don't forget some of our member are forced to take this subject. In most IT subject, C program subject are normally compulsory. Students can't avoid it. Even they learn a very basic topic in exam, but normally their assignment given are to difficult and only expert programmer can do it.

Clement, if they can't do it all, then they're welcome to post it here. The problem arises when people just post "Do this for me and e-mail it to me at lazybastard@hotmail.com"

I definitely agree with you Govtcheez. At least they can try it first before post it in this forum. Then other member can help to solve it or giving some comment why they're errors. I also do the same thing when I take this subject. For your information, I'm a Business student, not a IT student. But I'm majoring in MIS and C program is compulsory. That's why I understand why some of our member can't do it at all. In my campus for example, even IT student can't do it and some of them are failed in this subject.

I doubt that very much. The assignments I had for my first programming subject were tricky I'll admit, but after a bit of work I got them done. I understand that Business students are often forced to do programming, but I'm doing IS and I have to take some business related subjects. The reason in both cases is to understand how another industry works. It would be imperative as an MIS professional to understand at least some basic programming principles. Perhaps you will see why when you are closer to finishing your degree.

    i agree

I have took no classes in any language.

I've managed a site that i had to let go cuz there just wasn't enough time for me alone to manage it. "The possibilities...where do i start?" ...type of thing. Batch files were basically the first thing caught onto...a long time ago. c / c++ i'm grasping onto fairly well within the 2 weeks or so i been goin at it. I read mass tutorials on vc++ and built countless pgms with that so that probably helped me for c and c++. im kinda eager to take a peek at assembly. ms vc++ i dun like to well, it generates stuff for you. i like starting from scratch ( the "useful" code is now up to xxxx lines *smile* ).

Why all the trouble jus for fun, that's just why. Hey, i might actually build brain power.
The world is waiting. I must leave you now.

It only generates stuff for you if you tell it to...
