Using carry bits

This is a discussion on Using carry bits within the C Programming forums, part of the General Programming Boards category; I am just wondering if C or C++ has a way to view the carry bit(assembly). Thank You, Wildman6801...

    You can determine the carry-bit of addition as follows (works for any C compiler):
    Code:
    unsigned int a, b, aplusb, carrybit;
    ...
    aplusb=a+b;
    carrybit=a>~b;
    hope this helps... /* why is this in boldface? */
