    setting up C with MS visual Stuio 2005

    hello

    i am new to c programming and need your help setting up microsoft visual stuio 2005
    the problem i have is that i can not save or open files with .c extension. When i right click to add an "existing or new item" the file type .c does not show up.In essence How can i use microsoft visual studio to write ,save, open,add .c(dot C file type) instead of C++. please help with this

    I don't have the 2005 version on my machine, but I'm pretty sure that .c is valid extension.
    Make sure that you haven't selected "managed" mode, in which case I don't think C is an option.

    I've got it on this machine and I don't have any issues. What steps (exactly) have you gone through in creating the project and adding the files? What do the windows that pop-up say and what options in those windows do you select?
