So what difference does it make if someone is male or female?

If someone can answer a (technical) question, then that's fine. If not, then that's too bad.

If you want to "date" people [at least if you are male and want to meet eligeble females], you are probably in the wrong place - the balance is seriously shifted to males here - it's a male dominant industry. Out of the 20 or so people sitting around me here in the office, there are three females. That is likely to be roughly the ratio in other places in this business too.

Oh! It is easy for me. I have no right to ban on this board. So I just continue doing what I'm doing here anyway - and whoualya - I'm satisfying your petition (If all request were so easy to satisfy...)

What?! You want to say that if I'm [unknown gender] programmer who wants to date a male - I'm in the right place here?!!!

Perhaps not in the right place, but certainly not quite as wrong as the male ones wanting to meet a female, if you see what I mean.

You're even in the right place if you're a male who wants to meet eligeble males

    i DONT! thanks.

of course i know this is not a place to look for a girl. and by the way i don't like (my
personal humble opinion, no offense) programmer girls.

i just made a point that even if there are any females doing c/c++ there aren't many.
the number is very small. no offense. no gender bias. no ill intention. no. nothing of that sort.

i don't give it's gender any thought, if it answers my question.
for me a board member's answer is most important. the poster is just an it. no he. no she.

what benefit will i get by trying to prove every one here that there are almost no female c/c++
programmers. and it hardly matters. i just said there aren't many. (just maybe a few).
    agree or disagree. your wish.

and for dating i do yahoo chat. you are invited

The whole thread at least confirms that this isn't a bad place to date if you're a girl, there's a few old timers on here, you know -- from the times of 5 1/2 inch floppies

Because it's irrelevant, for example -- "Hi I'm a female, 165cm, 58kgs -- and I'm having problems compiling this code." is just stupid. It's not relevant to the nature of these boards, nor the problem.
they can just have a girl like name. that's enough for me. happy.
i am not looking for girl here. no. not at all. abk was (probably)

Bah. Manav, males are just trying to prove you wrong. But females understand it's useless to even try to do it.

The balance in other subforums may be totally different than in the General Discussions.

maxorator, you may be right, i may be crazy.

i agree. but that's not indicative of female presence. i myself love General Discussions here,
Bar on a python board, Heap on an assembly board.

as an aside (we can start a thread on this), you say this in your sig.
but since technology is so advanced today, why don't processor makers make such enhancements
to their processors that can be fully utilized by using compilers only. and no need of hand optimizing in assembly.

When you learn this stuff more you will understand why processor architecture must be low-level.

although not to offense anybody some do it. see Elysia (sorry!) has Goddess of Sky in here profile.
and on another (programming related) board too I have seen such profiles.

but a computer programmer is an IT

No I wasn't. I made it clear in an earlier post, when Todd said something like "I think I know where your are going......"

Nothing like that , just a general question out of curiosity.

    I am innocent.

That's old timers? You were probably alive already when windows 95 was being shipped also in 5 1/4 inch floppy disks.

5 1/4", thank you very much.

And before those, there were 8" floppies. HA!! I used to "punch up" system wide online tests (OLTEP) on them using an IBM 3540 Diskette Reader/Writer. Basically, a keyboard, with an LED display, so you could type right onto the diskette. This was the early '80s.
