    IE 6 is actually scary...

    Because IE 6 is made by Microsoft, they can recklessly goes into your windows folder and make a mess. If you crash your IE, it crashes the Task Bar for you. IE 6 is practically a spyware.

    Use Netscape then.

    Opera is another option.

    When IE crashes and your task bar disapears. then I think it is explorer.exe that crashes. IE explorer is only an other front for explorer(I think) they are all based on the same program.
    if you kill the explorer.exe process, the IE explorer , task bar and those things will disapear. that is why I think they are all related to eachother. It doesn't mess with your system, it is the same program.

    Obviously you two haven't tried these alternatives.
    As unfairly biased as I am against Microsoft I have to admit IE is about the best browser you can get.

    Actually I have Opera installed, as well as Netscape 6.2. Netscape is superior to IE, but there are too many damn websites made with (you guessed it) MS Front Page, which look crap in Netscape. Opera is the fastest web browser around.

    Nutscrape v3 was a good little browser. Nutscrape also had some great ideas. For example...

    1. Layers! I once wrote a web page that had two layers to it. Images below, text on top. Worked really well! Just imagine what you could ddo with layers and php / stylesheets?

    2. Columbs. You caould opena text file, and display it in columns. Realy easy to use as well..

    <colum width=2, gutter=.50>
    <stuff>
    </colum>

    or something like that. Pitty there are no real standards on the net. I eagerly awaited nutscrape 6..... but it was suha dissapointment. The horrid big looking thing at the top they call a nev bar, and that menu screen on the left, that, no matter how hard you try, cant get rid of it completly. IE though works very well..... i like the fact that i can simply open my folder.... and then broswe from it etc... I also like the fact it goes full screen.

    I last looked at Opera 2 years ago. I'm sure its very good.... but i just dont like the way everything opens in differnt windows..... looks like a windows 3.1 applet!

    Oh well..... guess we'll have to write our own guys! one that uses both nutscrape and Internet exploiter codes... !

    Oi, o forgot to say that IE 6 is just pants! as i dont have XP (and i ask myself why anyone would want a cartoon for an OS?) ie6 doesn;t look very goood on my machine. Also, i see M$ have maneged to tie in MSN (pronounced ms sin), and hotmail (pronounced...... err, hotmail i beileve!)

    Why IE???
    The Internet Explorer just don't care about Standards...
    Everytime I develope a Website I get ........ed off by IE!

    It hardly displays correct HTML correct (if you know what I mean) - espacially version 6!

    Why does Microsoft not support the HTML Standard?

    Opera and Mozilla are (IMHO) the best Browser you can get!

    They are handy, fast and they support nearly the entire HTML Standard!
    Hope you don't mind my bad english, I'm Austrian!

    I have recently gone to Opera exclusively and I must say I am extreamly impressed.....

    I love the Multi Document display and auto popup killer.....

    One slight gripe is the formatting of certain pages (such as with Vb Boards)......but that is nothing when weighed against the main benefit - Stability.

    I havent had one crash yet on either my works PC (Win98) or my home PC (Win2K)...... The one time I used Internet explorer this week was tonight cuz I had a Windows Update and M$ likes IE

    Would you believe it? IE crashed!!!!! 1 use in a week and it blew out!!

    Anyone noticed how much Opera looks like the NCSA Mosaic...? Not to mention IE was based off of the mosaic...too bad they didn't keep developing that thing...it's kinda cool. Has MDI support just like opera. Just doesn't work with any new markups or scripting langs.

There os poppup adds that I never approved to run on my puter. There is some sites that even installs software on your hdd. etc etc..It feals like a pretty serious violation.I know I can just stop vistiting the internet and problem is solved.If opera have a poppup add stoper I am changing browser.

    I have Opera, but not Netscape. I use NS only in Linux. Opera is the best one, except for the ad.

    IE is by M$, so they can change your registry easily.

    >Because IE 6 is made by Microsoft

    LOL. You honestly think it was made by Microsoft? They steal code from everybody...just look at IE's about box...it says who they got code from.
