Site suggestions - what would you like to see?

    Let's try this again.

Generally I dislike oppressive moderating, but this thread will be strictly moderated (I admit that it was in part my own fault for the degeneration of the previous thread), and irrelevant posts will be removed as per my discretion. Please limit comments to constructive criticism.

What would you like to see added to Cprogramming.com?

Still the supporter page. If this is a community, and I have spent a lot of time here, and I am willing to support your efforts monitarily, I should get to be on a page with others like me.

Drop the top advertisement. Banners do crap.

Make a few color scheme templates that you like. Let us vote.

Ask for help with what you do not have time for. I can help you with a few things that do not involve the design that you may need. I will pm you.

A little darker. I buy your comment that a light background is better... but a little less light is better for me IMO.

I agree with Dean that the Tuts need work. (Time is always an issue with us professionals and students... but if it is worth doing, it is worth doing well)

Everybody has an opinion... most opinions suck.

Maybe a more complete function list? With an index so that if we don't know the function name but what we want it to do we can still find it easily? That would be useful for me... I can never remember the names and spellings of obscure functions.

I'd like to see some graphics tutorials or some ASM. (I know it's C programming.com but I'd like to learn it because it pops up alot on the message boards)

Actually I do like that idea. Current technology events would be a good thing. As a matter of fact, a user customizeable entrance page isn't a bad idea either. (like a myYahoo idea but more related to programming)

I would like to see an end to the banner ads (unless of course you are making money out of them which you need).

A change perhaps from the red and white colour scheme? It's getting a bit boring.

The front page needs to be better organised in terms of the links. I think that the message board should have a more prominent display than it does, as it is a major drawing point for the site.

The tutorials need updating, as does the FAQ.

    > as does the FAQ.

I think this is a major thing. I also think that the link to the message board, instead of going straight to the board, should go the FAQ, with a link to the boards at the bottom. I think this would cut down on the number of "How do I clear the screen?" and the like.

    >Ask for help with what you do not have time for.

I second that. We could create a wishlist and add the people working on the projects. That way we could get a new FAQ, tutorials, maybe even webdesign...

She was so Blonde, she spent 20 minutes looking at the orange juice can because it said "Concentrate."

When in doubt, read the FAQ.
    Then ask a smart question.

i dont agree with losing the banner ads - maybe just more carefiully targeted advertisments, the banner ads are often a sites only income and they do support it. (if it werent for the banners on mys ite - i probably wouldnt be able to run it)

So i think the ads should stay but me targetted to the audience - ie the IT sector.

Yeah - Less "Got Veal?" and more "Got Schildt?" - at least if you can. Also, sorry, the menopuase ads don't do it for me. "I shrank an inch in a year. Don't make the same mistake I did." Blech.

I agree with stealth the red and white are not too appealing. Oh yeah a nice watermaked background would be very good.

I think that someone should design a website layout like in adobe ilustrator or photoshop, and organize the front page a little. I think that one of the reasons that the front page looks kind of bad it's because the layouts are not really well done, the links to the FAQ or SOURCE CODE should be in a button, not just made with a link and that's it. It looks too, how can I put this ugly.
If you had a well arranged button that said mabye Source Code and when you clicked it would take you there it would like a whole like better, but hey this is just my humble opinion do as you wish webmaster.
