So when I got it home, I was (naturally) interested in getting all of the system settings, y'know, set up right.
I remember vividly seeing a mono sound output option in System->Sound Settings (or whatever it's called). Guess what. It's gone, and I'm left with the choices:
- Digital Stereo
- Dolby Digital 5.1
- Dolby Digital w/ WMA support of some kind
Obviously, on my small portable TV, all 3 options are useless. Case in point: Call of Duty (2, 3 whatever); whenever someone behind me or to the extreme left/right talks, I hear nothing. I have resorted to using subtitles in all games that support them.
Now, I'm 95% certain that I know why the options have disappeared: a patch. I'm not using XBL, so when I ran GRAW2 for the first time, it prompted me to first install some kind of patch. "Uh oh, looks like I'm taking it back", thought I. Then I realised that after clicking OK it proceeded to install said patch from the DVD. Yay.
I'm certain that it's since then the mono setting has disappeared. I've googled a couple of times, read the manual cover to cover... I'm almost at the point of ringing dreaded tech. support.
Clearly, you won't be seeing much of me if I'm forced to take that drastic measure - there'll be an ahluka shaped object hanging from the ceiling by my phone cord.
(We still use a corded landline phone, how 90's are we?)
Oh yeah, addition. I tried removing the left then right sound jacks from the SCART dongle to see if I could "force it on". No such luck, buddy boy.
