Why or what made programmers ( and people who are learning it ) be seen by others as a nerdish person?
I can only answer this for myself:

Because I am a nerdish person. And I don't feel bad about it.

When in doubt, read the FAQ.
    Then ask a smart question.

I code to keep my mind active and to feel as if I'm accomplishing something other than sitting in my recliner waiting for another day to go by. At 60, I'm a little too old to be a nerd.
    You closet nerd!

I've been called every name around the Sun and not all of them are related to my computerisms (but that's a story for another day / a shrink). I just ignore it.

The girls I know are missing out: http://www.gleemagazine.com/glee/art...1941672/cid_37.

Just to clarify, I don't read "glee magazine" nor do I usually google for geek-love.

People call me "emo" or "goth" because I don't talk to anyone, or have many friends. I've NEVER been called a nerd, only the other names I mentioned, which is kind of disappointing. Maybe it's my thick black glasses that makes me "emo" or my love of goth girls. However, what really ........es me off, is the elitist preppy ..........s who think they are better then everyone! I hope they get fat, get AIDS, and die in the middle of the street. Don't even get me started on minorites! [/rant]

*sigh* Tough week in the [sarcasm]WONDERFUL[/sarcasm] American public school system!

I think it's written somewhere that "blessed are the geek, for they shall inherit the earth".
The meek shall inherit the earth.
it is a quote from the bible.

The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth

Psalms 25:8 Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
Psalms 25:12 What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.

Psalms 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Psalms 37:18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
Psalms 37:22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

"i wonder if that happens every time"

Let me enlighten you to the reply joke. A thread discussing nerdy stereo types gets a nerdish reply. Hence the reply joke. Not as funny as “I wonder if that happens every time.” but when that is added to the bottom of the bible quote you have to think “do the meek only get the earth once” or “how many times will the meek inherit the earth”

Psalms 37:22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.
implying that his little cursed thing would be cut off..... that was seriously funny.

    too subtle or dry?

    edit
the "him" in the quote refering to all <male with cursed thing> meek kind.

Chics dig geeks and nerds b/c they have all the latest and greatest technology in their house.

I'm a geek when it comes to computers and technology in general, and a gearhead when it comes to cars. So what's that make me?
