    Tactical squad game

I'm looking for a nice tactical squad game, turned based preferably. It's one of my favorite types of games and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much of it around.

I'm honestly tired of playing Fallout Tactics and X-COM. Does anyone know of any others? Shareware or commercial?

There was this awesome abandonware game that took place between multiple windows. You'd have these two or three windows and you can configure them across your desktop, and when it was your turn all the action like missle launches went across the windows accordingly. I'll have to remember the name but it was what you're talking about.

Also worms is awesome, you can even go back to the scorched earth days

Worms is nearly impossible to play against the computer. One of the reasons I always disliked the game. I don't have many options as far as playing with other folks is concerned.

As for that other, you mean Harpoon?

I heard about a game called America's Army, but I am 100% sure it is not turn based. I have never played it...but I bet it is pretty tactical.

It is a free download of about 3 GB in size. Created by the US Army.

You have pretty much perfectly described Jagged Alliance 2. It's basically XCom++.

And yes, it is a very small genre.

I've heard of one that has been rumored to be coming out "any day now" for the last few months, actually Mario. It's more of a Rogue-like game though. I just can't remember the name of it, Mario. You have any ideas?

It either always hits or screws up so badly that it kills more of its own worms

From what I remember there's a demo download and the game is very, very cheap.

    > Scorched Earth 3D

Not exactly squad based but highly entertaining. I completely forgot about this completely free gem. Thanks Perspective.

Gasp! How could I have forgotten about it? Thanks, QuestionC. *blush*

    > Mario, have you played the other Fallout games besides tactics?

1, 2 and Tactics. Even played some mods. *strut*

That an 'any day now', or an "any day now"?
