    Microsoft's terrain technology

    http://www.fsinsider.com/articles/Gl...Technology.htm

Interesting read and not too far off from what most of us here 'guessed' and/or have tried.

I still say loading the terrain into VRAM would be faster than any algorithim, especially on modern cards with GDDR3 RAM.

Sweet! I can't wait to get the new Flight Simulator. I have Century of Flight now, but it leaves me wanting more. That terrain looks pretty tight!

I've always fancied playing one of their Flight Simulators but I ain't got a stick or the deskspace for one.
Good class architecture is not like a Swiss Army Knife; it should be more like a well balanced throwing knife.

Just buy a Sidewinder (?) from Logitech. How small is your deskspace? The stick rotates (that sounds odd) so you won't need to buy rudder pedals. It looks pretty nice, but I still have a very old Logitech Wingman Extreme!!!!!!

I've got a grand total of 5 inches to the left and right of my monitor and no space on the keyboard & mouse pull-out. I am so getting a bigger one for xmas. And a Sidewinder. And MS Flight Sim. Woot.

Buy a cheap desk from Walmart, you'll be fine then!
