i think this would be better on the general discussions board before you feel the wrath of the powers that be (ie the mods)
fun action and not cheap games or board games.
I do games for fun and programs that I need (more or less ones that help making the game). Now I have this one puzzle coming soon...
For fun I've written small programs that read through the binary data in a game's save files and output the data out into a format that I can read and understand. Then I can use a hex editor and go into the file and alter the bytes to cheat like mad.
In the past I wrote a program for Mechwarrior Mercenaries that gave you $2,000,000,000 cash to start with instead of the meager million or so the game gives you.
Most recently I've made a program to parse out the save game data from Civilization III so I can see the information for all the units used in the game (friend and foe). I then use a hex editor to change all my archers, warriors, etc. into Modern Armor and Mechanized Infantry units and change their status from Regular to Elite and also remove any damage they have acquired and finally to reset their movement points. Kicks butt to have tanks when everyone else has chariots and dudes with stone axes running around. Only problem with this is you have to save a game, quit the game, run the program, fire up the hex editor and make the changes, save the modified file, start Civ III back up and load the modified file. Kind of a long process to do multiple times.
STupid crapy ones
for fun I've done some programs to practice a lot of things.
Normally I program simple internet programs.
I actually do it for work (not everyone does it for fun)
I pretty much program just stupid stuff, although I'm working on a math program that will convert different number bases, and will have a binary, hex, and octal calculator.
