I havent tried out the latest IE, I do my normal browsing in FF.
Although when developing a website or any webbased project for school I try to use as many browsers to see how everything looks like on different browsers ( damn those webstandards ... although the meaning of standard is lost here ).
What I like most about FF is the huge amount of plugins that exist.
I will probably not install the latest IE untill its a full release ( not a beta version ).
Yeah. I voted IE 7, cause that is what was using when I voted. It looks quite good actually. It's got on thing I like about it already - there's a search thing on the top right (which I think is in FF too), but it was initially set to the Windows search engine, but it offered me to change it to Google's :) also instead of having to press Ctrl T for a new tab, there's a small tab to the right of the right-most page which you can click to get a new one.
It kinda reminds me of 'OMG I can't believe it's not FF', though
Heh, I just went to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx .
The thing that surprised me was this:
:D. Has it taken really that long to figure out that people like it simple and straightforward... most of the time => "less is more"Quote:
Simple is good. A redesigned, streamlined interface gives you more of what you need and less of what you don't. The new look maximizes the area of the screen that displays the webpage.

Haha. I know what you mean. Have you ever gone to this website (most impossible to navigate around ever!!) - http://www.neilyoung.com/
What I like best about my FF is its middle-click functionality (besides auto scrolling) - opens a new tab when clicked on a link, and closes the tab when clicked on its name.
Once you get used to it you cant live without it.
Is there anyway to import your favorites from FF to ie7? OR any IE for that matter.
Opera. Similar (same I'm pretty sure) as FF when it comes to middle-clickies.
Has a lot of other features I use all the time (wand for example) and it's voice activated. I can now march into a room and scream "OPERA, NEW!" at the top of my voice instead of middle clicking the toolbar :)
ARHG! There's no refresh button, and I can't customise it to make one! Not that I use it, but that's not the point.
You don't use the refresh button??
I normally use FF, because it's convenient to use !
I use IE7, when doing my netbank - they don't use FF for some
security issues.
>> You don't use the refresh button??
I press F5 man! :D Honestly ... the Portugeuse ...
What do you think of IE7 'The Shark'?
I am not quite fond of the layout....
But ok, it works ;-)
DOH! :)Quote:

EDIT - Good news. It does have a refresh button, but it just wasn't were I thought it was.
Safari and FF, but I voted other to spite the fact that you left Safari out :p
Safari ... I've never heard of that on! Did you write it yourself? :D
Poor IE6. Look at that tiny bar.
Real programmers use FF
Even in the old days?
EDIT - I voted IE7 cause that's what I was using when I made the poll. I normally use FF though.
Nah. in those ol' days they used... lynx!
Ahhh... those were the days
[sarcasm]Isn't that a kind of anti-perspiring device? Or a big cat of some kind. [/sarcasm]
> Opra
I though Opra was a talk-show host.
That's Oprah. There's a difference. Which do you use Salem? FF?
FF, apart from those drain-bammaged banking sites which force you to use IE because it's more "secure".

I think windows update also makes you use IE to update ... in my experience anyways.
Opera for everything...occassionally IE for things that don't meet standards...but Opera does pretty well on 90% of the sites I go to (including the bank).
You can always just grab IE Tab. :)
Nah... FF has a pluggin that allows you to use the IE engine within FF. And you want to know what's best?... it's per tab basis. So you can have a tab displaying a MS IE only website with the IE engine and others tabs rendering with FF engine.
Check the FF plugins
EDIT SirCrono beat me to it
I'm kinda surprised about the results of this poll!
In this statictical thing ( http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp ), is shows that about 60% are mad for the IE 6, and about 25 are mad for the FF. 1.4 are crazy about the Winfery show. Hmmm, shows how atypical real programmers are eh?
You're comparing a poll from a programming board to a poll of what seems to be the average internet user. I'm sure if you look at their statistics on OS, they have a much different XP to Linux ratio than you'd poll on this board and if you ask me, their most common resolution seems a bit small for this board to me, too.
"First get your facts; then you can distort them at your leisure."
Mark Twain
Good quote! I also like this one:
"Then there was the man who drowned crossing a stream with an average depth of six inches."
W. I. E. Gates
So, they're saying these are the facts, but then they say that they don't matter ... ah well. Still though, out of 18 people, 11 (12 really), peole use FF. Interesting. Very interesting.
The way they do statistics these days, I say you go ahead and plant those results as the average internet user. You'll be as wrong as everyone else, which can only mean you are right.
Well, when I boot into Mac OS X, I use Safari, because it's faster than Firefox. When I boot Gentoo, I use Firefox, because it's faster than booting into Mac OS X. :)
(I voted Firefox, even though Safari is based on Netscape.)
IE7 *still* doesn't pass the acid test. At least it displays web pages more properly than its broken predecessors.
Opera for the win.
Not sure if anyone pointed it out but konqueror isn't listed.
it is!! it's in other.
Nobody uses konqueror. :p
I do, just not to browse the web.. :D It makes an ok file browser.Quote:
