    TheJeffFiles hosting being discontinued

I'm sad to say that I'm moving on from programming. Lately I've just not had the time to do it like I did in the past, and with the constant costs of TheJeffFiles hitting me, I've decided I'm just going to have to pull the plug on it. For all those hosted by me, I'm deeply sorry, but the site will be offline starting tomorrow, please backup your content before then so as not to lose any of your information.

Thanks everyone, it's been a good run for the past 5 years.

I'd really like to mess with this one, but unfortunately it's 12:12 AM here. Someone that's CST or more west should have fun with this while they can.

Well it's been nice using your hosting, sad to hear it's going down.

But Bob, I thought we had a thing

After all that code and experience you just gonna flush it and say you don't want to code anymore?

Somehow I think you will be back. Code is something that you cannot escape. Some day down the road you will sit back down and think....man I could make this or that better or different......and you will be coding again.

Hope you change your mind and with so many games under your belt it will be sad to see you leave coding and thus lose your much-needed experience.

I'm good at starting games, it's finishing them that I'm not so good at. I always get stuck at the editor portion since most, if not all, games eventually require one to make levels, baddies, scripts, etc.

Yeah, I gotta say, I've said "I don't want this anymore" at least twice now, and yet I always find myself gravitating back to this board again and again...

Hasn't anyone noticed which date he made this thread? Might explain the removed posts too...

What you need Bubba is a "wingman" or "running mate". The thing is, making games on your own is hard. It is very easy to get bogged down in the semantics of programming. If you could get to the editor stage and then pass on development responsibilites to someone else then they can knock the levels together, suggest improvements, etc. while you improve the engine.

If I had a graph of productivity x people you'd see that for one person it's quite low, then it increases quickly for up to about eight peeps, then slow decline with more as the work is diluted further.

Back to the original post. Sorry to see you go Jeff, I reckon we could've been BIG with that wiki.

Which is exactly what I had in setting up this prank Josh and I decided to do it at about 3 in the morning on April 1st, at which point he composed his sappy tune and I posted the news all over where people would read it.

    From my site's front page:
"To all who are still unaware, yesterday was April Fools, and yes, it was a joke.

For everyone's amusement, I did get pranked back later that night by someone who I pranked earlier in the day, and it was quite well done."
