oskillian - I don't know about people over seas, but your site loads just fine for me. Even on just a 56k. So if what you have now is free...I would just stick with that. Unless of course you are really wanting your own (.)com. Which eventually you probably will considering this is a buisness oriented site.

what business? there's no business. there's no business plan. there's no product. it's just an empty web site with and empty bulletin board...i'm sorry but that's the truth. there's no need to spend any money until he's got something worthwhile to share...stick with the free stuff. it loads fine for me...

well, it loads fine when you're tho only one trying to load it, but when there are two or more people, it gets really slow, and you have a 56k modem like me, so everything is just as slow, but someone with cable or DSL finds it slow even when he/she's the only one.

apart from that, since it's a spanic-american site, it's low on traffic when latin america (GMT -4 to GMT -6) is sleeping, and that's right now, but try entering my site in the afternoon (late night in Europe) and you'll understand.

there WOULD be a product if I had a team, or didn't you visit the projects section. And who are you, I'm sure you're someone we all know (your way of writing), but you're afraid to show who you are, isn't it?

i you really must know who i am, i made sure i logged in for you... i forget sometimes. if you though i was trying to attack you from a "guest" login, i'm sorry you thought that.

i was trying to say it is silly to waste money on promoting something that doesn't even exist, YET...stay with your current host. there's nothing wrong with it. that's all i'm saying. it was not an insult. you should maybe spend more time worrying about your product before you spend so much energy on trying to sell it. right?

OK, I'm sorry I thought that, but you must understand that it happens all the time..

what worries me is that there could be another shutdown such as last week's, it lasted for two days, I think, and If I get to start that project, I'm planning to be working on it 24/7, so I don't want to stop just because the webmaster of eqquinox.com thought it would be nice to change hard drives and stop the whole service for 48 hours!

the other thing is that if I start my project, I'm planning on finishing it in February, March, or even April, and then start another bigger project which concerns more people, and if I do that, I'm going to need a faster server. On the other side, there's tera-byte, they're offering 6 months for free, I could use that one, and it's not so expensive, I made the conversion to pesos and it's not so expensive, so If I take this opportunity, I would be getting 6 more months for free.

This is not a "shut up" post AT ALL, you're the first one who's made me think whether what I'm doing is right or not, so please answer to this post.

you're right, equinox sounds crappy. a host being down for two days for a hard drive upgrade is completely ridiculous; HOWEVER, it is free. it will give you a place to experiment with you're site without having to pay for your experimentation. That's always the way to go. When you feel confident in your product, you can then start thinking about how much money you want to spend towards ensuring access to you're product is reliable...you don't have to make all these decisions now. it's good to think down the road, but i think it's premature at this point. Complete your first product before you even think about your second...

inmo, there are a few things you have to think about when you start to deal with investing money in a product, which is exactly what you're considering: is what i'm doing worthwhile? will people want it? do i really want to DO it? what is NECESSARY to accomplish my goals? and...what is the cost-effective solution?

i know money is important to you. unless you're extremely fortunate, money is hard to get. every successful businessman has 1) something worthwhile to sell AND 2) a watchful eye on the bottomline... lots of people forget number 2...
