does anone not like the direction the new msn messenger is goin?...what i mean by that is that microsoft is starting to add all these pointless features to msn and I think they blow and just take up system resources...only problem is everyone I know uses it now... I have like almost 100 people on my list.....well heres your chance to try something simple and something that doesnt have pointless features like winks and advertisements. try the google messenger its nice and practical. I think googles gonna rock microsof if they keep up the good work.

MSN is very useless. I'm still on their 6.2 release and refuse to upgrade to the newest cause of all the absolutely useless stuff they've added in that somehow manages to kill my computer.

First, I agree with the MSN comments. I love being able to nudge people for no reason as it really annoys them but there should be the option to disable all winks/nudges/other stuff.

Second, I think it's hard to treat Microsoft as the red-headed step child in this story. Google stole a Microsoft employee. He broke a contract. This is illegal and Microsoft has every right to be angry. I think Steve's actions are justified. Lee has intimate knowledge of Microsoft's technologies and strategies, and the day after he quit he started at Google.

Microsoft may have tough business tactics, but Google are just as bad. I don't feel Microsoft are the bad guys in this scenario.

    Agreed.
It's Link, not linkofazeroth. The latter's just my username. The former's my online identity. Thank you.

Myself, I never use MSN -- I have XP but I don't use MSN. I use FireFox browser and FoxMail.

From a legal standpoint, I agree with stovellp. However, in the long run, the winner of the Google vs. Microsoft war is going to be the one that makes customers happy. Now Google doesn't have quite the customer base that Microsoft does, but they're growing fast, and their products are a huge success with those that try them.

I actually put a bug in thier ears about thier own os.
just by asking if they had such a product under development.
    the reply:

no comment, due to corporate secrecy / security policies.

so, I translate that to be:
Google Branded Linux is in the works.

From what I understand, that's a pretty stock response when you ask Google about anything related to product development.

After all that MS has gone through I think that Google will definitly give them a run for their money. I don't know if a Google OS is probable but it is certainly possible and they have probably already thought about it, but, how many commercial OS's do you know of that a home user might buy? Google have a long way to overcome MS
