    Depressed :(

I'm feeling sad. I graduated and never found that elusive entry-level programming job, they seem to be so rare in the UK. I have been stuck in a job for approaching 3 years and although I'm moving up its not really something I want to pursue so now I'm considering another career change and leaving IT behind!

Any suggestions for getting back into coding? I feel I need to complete a decent size program to use as an example of what I can do but I've been away so long now the C++ threads may as well be written in Russian! I considered getting a laptop, nothing special but a new toy dedicated to getting me back into it. I dont spend much time on my own machine anymore, so between my home, my work and my girlfriends place I might be able to get something done. Sounds like a reasonable idea?

    Anyone got any other suggestions?
Couldn't think of anything interesting, cool or funny - sorry.

Have you considered joing up with a project at Sourceforge? I know its all for free, and depending on the project, it may or may not be organised in a decent fashion, but it might be the motivation and challenge you are looking for.

Any passions that you've put aside?
The word rap as it applies to music is the result of a peculiar phonological rule which has stripped the word of its initial voiceless velar stop.

Or you can do what they did in Office Space and install a program that sends the rounded-off pennies to your bank account :]
