usually people either just zip them up, or change the extention to .txt and tell people how to fix it.

I tried to upload a *.zip file tonight in the C board and it didn't work. Can (or will) you fix it -- its a real pain in the .......... to upload the uncompressed files individually, especially if the project contains a lot of them.

You're welcome to PM webmaster and make the request, but this has been brought up before and the administrators decided to continue with this policy. You mght as well just use major_small's suggestion.
