Create A New Thread And Link To The One You Want To Reference

I thought I'd follow the rules and CREATE A NEW THREAD AND LINK TO THE ONE I WANT TO REFERENCE. So this thread 'links' to http://cboard.cprogramming.com/showt...347#post478347.

I see nothing about this in the rules.

    All I see is this:

Please do not cross post (i.e. post the same question on multiple boards).

Look at the rule below that. Did you really think that Shadow was just staring at that thread for 5 months waiting for you to respond, or do you think that maybe discussion was dead on it?

edit: This thread is breaking rule 13, too

Cross posting referes to posting the same question on multible boards on the site. The no bumping rule referes to old threads. If you have a question about an old thread, please post a link. But as govt said, I'm quite sure that Shadow has already resolved his problem.

I'm not going to close this one....but to all those who may be reaching for the flame button right now (*cough* quzah *cough* )...please refrain.

This system emails the person that created the thread when someone responds to it. So that's why I did it.

No the system does not. That is an option, an option that I believe most users have disabled. If you wish to e-mail Shadow. I suggest you use his user profile.

Either way, I know for a fact that Shadow has resolved his hosting issues. Check his website, also on his profile.

Alright, I'm sorry. You should, though, put something in the rules that says not to add to old posts (because I really thought it would email the guy). I was searching for something else and I came across his post, and then I looked at his site's source, so I thought I'd give my two cents since he wanted to know what to do differently. Won't do it anymore.

Despite the fact that you bumped a really old thread... it was a rather pointless post and not even a question. I could see someone bumping a thread to talk about something more in depth, but you just stated an opinion that no one was really going to reply to.

Okay, lets leave this alone now. The man has apologised and gracefully acknowledged the rules, once they were pointed out, without even throwing a fit like we've all seen 100 times.

And IMO, it would appear that the bumping rule could actually be clarified further. Remember that just because us longtime members know how things work around here, doesnt mean the rules list actually states it clearly and in exactly the manner that we've all know it's supposed to mean. We'll look into it.

    Peace
