    Translation assistance bitte!

    Hi guys.

This is extremely off topic, and I apologise in advance! However....

I bought something interesting at an antique place today. Problem is, I have no idea what! It is some kind of weighing / cutting / sample preperation device. The only clue I have is that on the wooden box is printed

    Glasblaserei
    des instituts fur
    GARUNGSGWERBE
    Berlin N65

As far as I can tell Glasblaserei is Glass Blowing?

GARUNGSGWERBE is refining trade (refining of what? Glass? sugar? oil?)

I seem to be losing something in the rranslation.

Google throws up some sites, but nothing seemingly relevant.

    Any clues anyone?

    GARUNGSGWERBE - refining trade
Berlin N65 - perhaps street adress?

Looks like a scale and a set of standard weights used to determine how much another object weighs. Things like that used to be important - without it, nobody would agree on measurements.
    Away.

It's German, though somewhat old fashioned.

It's a full address. Berlin is the capital of Germany, N65 probably a street or placename. The Institute of Fermentation still exists and is called Institute for Fermentation and Biotechnology today.

She was so Blonde, she spent 20 minutes looking at the orange juice can because it said "Concentrate."

When in doubt, read the FAQ.
    Then ask a smart question.

My keyboard has an umlaut key (¨), if I press that one and u I get ü. I never use it though.
