    Resignation

I've been thinking about my position lately, and I've decided that it's time for me to stop being a mod here. Recent events, such as the ridiculousness of the NYE game and the complete and total screwup that was the RoD/Lucky bannings, have exacerbated it, but this probably should have happened a long time ago.

The biggest reason I'm resigning is that, to be quite honest, I don't program in C at all anymore, and haven't for quite awhile. I've contributed basically nothing to the programming boards for quite awhile, because I've got nothing positive to add to the discussion, and because I'm sick of the do my homework threads that kermi and alex don't seem to give two I am sillyI am sillyI am sillyI am sillys about.

That brings me to the second biggest reason. Salem, adrian, nv, Fordy, etc. are excellent moderators. They answer questions quickly, correctly, and as politely as can be expected (when adrian's internet connection is working). They also deal with the riffraff when it's needed, even if that riffraff is me.

This is in stark contrast to the administrators on this site, who wouldn't know a good decision if it sat on their face. As I said, the best illustration of this is the recent temporary banning of RoD and Lucky. The entire thing was caused by 1) RoD being dumber than a bag of hammers and 2) RoD having the self control of a 6 year old. When Lucky actually had the gall to defend his wife (who was actually crying because of the thread, wtg RoD), it was deemed "flaming" by the admins and he was banned as well. Kermi's quote to me over AIM is paraphrased something like this: "If you're bullied, you walk away. That's the mature thing to do." Thanks for that stunning lesson in life, buddy. Ignoring RoD's a lot better thing than, y'know, standing up for someone you love.

The last straw was last night, when Alex IMed me using kermi's screen name because he's so petrified that someone from the board will actually, y'know, contact him, even someone who's been a mod here for 3 and a half years.

So, in closing, thank you other mods, screw you alex and kermi, and I actually did have fun, in spite of it all.

I nominate Quzah as my replacement, but I fully expect someone like cerin or Krak to be chosen.

edit: PS Remember kermi, you're the only unelected mod on this board, so you can shove that election crap up your ass.

I think you've insulted 6 year olds everywhere by comparing RoD to one.

Anyway, :-*. Alex (*cough*) is a complete basketcase about privacy to be sure, and the Lucky and RoD thing was insane.

Cheez was a great mod, sure, he didn't jump into the programming boards too often, but he had many friends who told him if something "was up", and he dealt with it accordingly.

What gets to me though, about these boards, is the ridiculous censoring: I mean, the word "hell" is not even censored from children's books, and jackass - come on now. Don't get me wrong, I like coming here, discussing, helping, getting help, flaming, and what not, but the censorship and paranoia is getting out of hand.

    Well,

I hope you have enjoyed your time here. If there is every anyone to bring comedy to the table, it's mainly you in my opinion. I'm not trying to make you change your mind, just stating the obvious facts.

That's what Quzah, I, and a few others are for.

Anyway, I hope all goes well down the road. And again, I hope you have enjoyed your time and status here.

    Farewell, my friend.

Segmentation Fault: I am an error in which a running program attempts to access memory not allocated to it and core dumps with a segmentation violation error. This is often caused by improper usage of pointers, attempts to access a non-existent or read-only physical memory address, re-use of memory if freed within the same scope, de-referencing a null pointer, or (in C) inadvertently using a non-pointer variable as a pointer.

stack, it's not that dramatic, he'll still be here, just not a mod.

Hey, leave him alone. He's just talking about how great I am, which is totally fine by me.

Well, I think you should stay. You do an excellent job at bringing common sense to this board. Even if you haven't posted code in awhile(hey we have Kleid-0 for that right? ), I know you always answered my PMs about certain questionable posts quickly and with good judgement. Just because there have been some crazy times lately doesn't mean you need to leave.

If you do decide to go then farewell and following seas. I hope you decide to return, even if not as a mod to hang out in the GD.

I don't want to be a mod. I don't have time for any more bickering, ass kissing and such that is included with the "benifit" of being one. (Whatever benifit there actually is.)

<snipped what was going to be another rant on the pointless reputation system>

    Anyway, thanks but no thanks.

    Quzah.
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Maybe I didn't make it clear. I don't plan on actually leaving cprog, until kermi gets mad enough to ban me, which will likely only be after I kill someone or something. I still know what's a passable thread and everything, so I'm still open to questions.

I still plan to post on the Tech Board and GD, and maybe C/C++, if I get into the languages again. The point of this is that my knowledge of C is nowhere near what it should be to moderate a board of this size and my inability to get along with the admins isn't a good thing. I really want this board to do well; it was the first board I ever visited, if that's any indication. I just don't think that with the way it's run right now it's ever going to get any better, and I don't want to be shouting to kermi and alex about it only to be told how wrong I am every time.

edit: OK quzah, thanks anyway. I nominate Prelude, in that case. If she declines, I nominate Stack Overflow.

I would second the nomination for prelude. (My opinion probably doesn't really matter though).

Glad your not leaving, must have misunderstood your post.
