I wish I helped make firefox when I was 17... I'll never get that year of my life back. :(
I thought that was pretty impressive. I just downloaded firefox after reading that and am posting my first message with it.
i still perfer opera, but thats cool.
If Firefox could zoom everything like Opera does, versus Firefox's ability to only zoom text, I'd say Firefox hands down. But Opera is neat for that feature.
Other than that I see no real big difference for me. I still use Firefox and like it better cause it has a larger viewing window.
dont forget the mouse gestures in opera. are they available in firefox as well?? i am not sure. the zoom feature is really nice though.
>>dont forget the mouse gestures in opera. are they available in firefox as well??
yes. http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/#mousegest
statistics dont lie :)

But they are capable of being incredibly biased. Not that I care, it's a damn internet browser dude, I have IE, Opera, and Firefox all on my PC. I use Firefox though.Quote:

How about this:

touche'
is like amd vs intel, ati vs nvidia, etc. Ive used all the afore mentioned nd i love opera. I'm on beta 8 version right now.
I remember we were having problems with a homework problem in our ECE class because of something with an old version of Java virtual machine. The professor suggested trying another web browser, and the nerds in the class actually started fighting over opera versus firefox. I honestly wanted to just stand up with a bazooka and send them all to hell because nobody should care that much about a web browser DAMMIT!
Ok I feel better. Oh yeah I installed that mouse gestures extension for firefox, thx perspective.
Yea firefox owns rod and you suck so just face it.
p.s I really don't care which one you like as long as you don't use IE as your "primary" browser :)
Oh and rod you don't suck that bad ;)
opera has less security issues, more speed, more options, what more could you want? As for viewing space in opera being too small, i never have to use side scroll bars at all, and have never had a issue with not having enough viewspace.
You don't have size problems with opera to make up for your 'other' size problems.
pervert, I was talking about his nostrils not being big enough to put two markers in each.
<napoleon voice>
edit: but I shouldn't have even bothered putting all of those extra lines in there because rod is so cool because his viewspace is so huge that he can see both parts of my message at once.
god!
</napoleon voice>
Browsers are like cars, everybody likes a certain car even if one is more secure or has more options. Someone might like a lesser options more simple car with less "security". I personally love my Jeep. Does everyone else here think that jeeps are the best? No but do I think they are, yes :)
Wow, another kind of firefox VS Opera thread.
You've inspired me to work harder :)Quote:

I can set some kind of world record...
Youngest person to create a succesful retail game, w00t!
What would you rather watch?
I rest my case...
- A pasty white fat woman who can fall off all four sides of the bed simultaneously.
- A gasoline-doused fox jumping through flaming hoops.
jeeps rock dude. have an 89 wrangler with a 454 eng, 700r4 trans, 6in bod lift, 4in susp lift, 35in tires, 8klb winch and a host of other gadgets. We have rockwell top loader military axels for it and 44in tires, just gotta put em on. ill run out and snap a pic of it.
kinda dark out and snow is falling so its not the best pic ever.
>>A pasty white fat woman who can fall off all four sides of the bed simultaneously.
That could be interesting to see. I wonder if RoD's jeep could handle her?
Hey I'm 17, I'll work on Firefox too! Maybe then I won't have to join the Marines, :'(
jeez rod, how many cars do you freagin have?
good question honestly. Counting me and my dad:
91 Stealth
89 Jeep
87 Rx7
82 collector's Vette
88 Camaro x 2
? Escort
93 Mustang - well, part of it LOL
? Chevy p/u
? Datsun p/u
01 Civic
97 Chevy conversion van
hmm, 12. Damn, we have alot of cars. I'll attach a pic of the stealth too. The only one i have of the vette is from my dad/step mom's honeymoon in tennesee and i dont feel like people telling me its not mine because its a way diff scenery around it lol.

how old are you?
grrr....I started when I was 10....i'm programming a game engine now at 14....why can't i get a job offer?...stupid rural community in the middle of nowhere that noone knows about :(

>>how old are you?
13

Good for you, what kind of engine you making? I would try and make a FPS myself except for the fact that I have no means to make the high quality graphics that would be required in a retail game.
>>why can't i get a job offer?
I know! There has to be some way I can make some money this summer from programming.
good luck, im 20 and still looking.
17 and still looking for a decent job  blegh, I've got a pretty good portfolio of games/software ATM, but haven't really gotten lucky enough to have someone hire me yet.
Maybe if you do some volunteer programming they'll hire you when a spot opens up? Or maybe they'll be eternally grateful to you and make generous donations :D
Well, I'm glad that wasted year of my life served some purpose... You think I can get yahoo to do a story on me?Quote:

its not the AWD TT, but it is a RT.
91 Stealth RT. Its one of only 36 produced as an RT model with every option but a sunroof. Which is fine by me, because even in poor condition my feature/color combination in a RT package makes it worth 3500.00.
i'm not keeping it, its getting a fresh coat of paint and going up for 3k obo in about a month. Want a pickup.
>>I know! There has to be some way I can make some money this summer from programming.
I found a way...well sorta...I'm applying for an apprenticeship program (ASE), and you get $1000 to cover expenses. Good experience anyways, but it will be a lot of work. Not to mention commuting 60+ miles every day. Quite a few of the positions are programming related, so I have a decent chance at it.
But I still might not get accepted...

The engine will be open-source and will hopfully support first-person games as well as third-person.
The graphics don't necessarly have to be high-quality. Average graphics with great gameplay is still a good game.
BTW, if your interested in helping out, give me a PM :)

www.sourceforge.net is a good place to hop onto opensource projects, as we all should know.
I wonder if it would be hard to edit Firefox so that on the menu instead of saying "Bookmarks" it says "Yee hah!!". Hmm!
I have a friend who was a little skeptical about FF when he first saw it - he made a semi-negative comment on how it has 'bookmarks' instead of 'favorites' as IE has it - guess he's a little cynical - anyway, maybe he would have liked your idea, Kleid-0. Of course it took him less than a day to get hooked on FFQuote:

Thank you :P
Back in Win 95 and Win 98 you could rename the start button and the basic menu items. Some friends and I changed the school computers so that Run was Walk adn things like that. Oh and for anyone who knows of the program that let you change the start button name, our way was so much better as we weren't limited to the 5 character limit that program was.Quote:

If you wanted to go over 5 characters, did you have to buy the "Pro" version? lol. I hate it when they do that!
Nope. It was a direct editing of the exe. They used a character prior to the start of the string to denote how many characters were in the following string.
I like taking a screenshot of someone's desktop (icons and all) and setting it as their wallpaper. I then of course, delete all their icons.Quote:

Another fun one is causing chaos in Word's AutoCorrect feature.
(Credit to the Dilbert Newsletter for the above office-pranks)
You're horrible!! YOu're horrible!! *slams the door*Quote:

I.E.
Tthey claim going into the command prompt is illegal on the grounds that it is "breaking into the system." Not only is that incorrect, (because if you press f-1 and choose boot into safe mode with command prompt it doesn't ask for a password or anything, not to mention I know 3 others ways to get into that would be a little bit more questionable :P), it doesn't even mention anything about it or something similar in the ToS.
That's awesome if the person you do it to doesn't know much about computers, if they do they'll figure out real fast. Instead of deleting icons I choose the non-harmful method of simply moving all the icons off screen.Quote:

I can imagine some applications involving cuss words...=)Quote:

Even more fun:
Take a screen shot
Set as background
Rearange Icons
Repeat until every position is filled with an icon and make their real icons randomily assigned a location
Sounds like a bad case of some l337 script kiddies getting ahold of subseven.
I installed the mouse gestures how to i go about editing them? They aren't even on right now.
Tools->extensions
The ones I've used the most:
Up-Right-Down view source
Left-Down-Right-Down-Left view frame source <<--- really good for sites that disable viewing the source and don't allow you to directly access the frame pages :D
I went to that but I'm not exactly sure how to set it I could get the mouse trails on but not the other stuff.
Wow this is ........in cool
i wish i had this guys talent .., building firefox in your teens is just awesome and
I fixed a bug in Mozilla at 19! 133t!!!111
Extremely easy. Get a proper zip program. Unpack the right zip file (browser.jar). Take the file the contains the menu strings (some .dtd file) and replace the right string in there. Then pack the whole thing up again. Restart the browser and enjoy.Quote:
