Cable over the airwaves for free!!!

Ok, This is boggling my mind as to how this is happening. My cable bill was increased to 90 dollars a month so I canceled the service. I take the box back to them, unplug all the cables going into my tv, and dig out my small ampilifed indoor tv antenna. And I still get cable channels. 4-5 of them come in with no fuzzy and the other channels below 40 have a little fuzzy and some cracking from the sound. I turn off the antenna and all I get is static. I would have never tought that a tv signal at a few ten's of mega hertz could propgate through free space.

I get about 6-7 channels with my $35 (CDN) powered wabbit ears. I was pretty surprised how well it works too! I even get fox about %70 of the time. I dont watch very much tv so paying for cable isnt really worth it for me.
