Yes, but only for engineering programs.

    >and if you can't find a job (seems like a good chance this will happen at the moment) they don't let you just go back to school and study another term.
The residence I'm staying at has a lot of upper-year students, many of them in co-op. None of them know anyone who hasn't been able to find a job.

    >they don't let you just go back to school and study another term.
Since co-op is mandatory, and there is only one co-op section for each engineering, they can't let you return to school because they won't be offering any of the courses that you need to take. In CS though, you can take a school term instead.
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

I have to tell you, co-op helped me out considerably when trying to find a job post-graduation. I still had a hard time, but a lot of companies gave me a once over just because I had some experience.

edit: I should add that I went to Kettering University (www.kettering.edu), not Waterloo.

Note to Kettering Alumni Association: I ADVERTISED FOR YOU, STOP BUGGING ME!

And explain something to me.... why do they bug you for money to help other students when they know you haven't even paid off your own college debts!?

Shut up, you. You signed up for this when you went to Senior Dinner at Dr. John's house. I believe receiving an ugly beer schooner is the same as signing a contract.

Oh... I knew I shouldn't have signed that sheet at the front door. bastards. And it wasn't even a "dinner". It was a luau (sp?) and I was just going to look at chicks. And the juice sucked my balls.

I'm going in tomorrow to talk to him about it, I'd suggest you do too if you want to join the thing (deadline's this friday). So whereabouts in calgary do you live and which high school? I'm guessing the odds of you going to aberhart are relatively slim to none eh?

Yup, slim to none. I'm in Okotoks [just outside Calgary] and go to Holy Trinity Academy.

Hadn't heard of that tech course...guess its a little late for me though..I've got to see the school counsellor tomorrow about universities and then have work. Oh well, I'll just buy myself another C++ book instead

Question about Waterloo: Do they care about International Baccalaureate? Cause if they do, thats good for me
