    ROTC Brain Washing

I was on campus (UCF) early this morning and a large group of uniformed im guessing rotc army fellows were running around, a guy was barking at them "turn left 90 degrees" etc. Then i heard him say "Repeat section 3 article something of something" and everyones like " do not surrender under any circumstance" and there was some other stuff i cant remember. They teach you to no give up even if it's going to kill you. That sucks. IMO. Oh well.
    Hmm

They might not win, but they might survive.

I remember in the older Mechwarrior games, everytime you tried to quit your game, it didn't ask you "Are you sure you want to quit?". Instead it asked "Embrace cowardice?".

that is to prevent people like jessica lynch from doing crap like she did("oh god, please don't let these terrorists kill me" *while throwing down M16 without firing a single round*)
there used to be something here, but not anymore

There is that phrase "Discretion is the better part of Valor"...

Besides, if survival is your lifes goal, the military probably isn't the right career path

It helps to know the full thing. They were refering to Article II of the Code of Conduct regarding US Military Personal that are PoW.

    Article II:
I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender the members of my command while they still have the means to resist.
    (Bolding mine)

Its not a "never give up" its a "never give up while I can still fight"

it was something like that, but not exactly like that. the while they still have the means to resist wasnt included, and it wasnt article II. maybe it was some weird university programming team training
    Hmm

What some call programming, others call rote memorization.

Not everybody is cut out to be in the military. ROTC isn't the hardest thing you can do, not compared to the marines, but I consistently see timid people dropping out because they can't even handle a little bit of pressure.

The reason I say this is that soldiers, regardless of what branch, are expected to do more than civilians, so it irks me a little bit when anybody even hints at downgrading our forces.
