..as well as your first language, what would you pick? Just wondering what languages interest you.
For me, it would be a tie between Arabic and Navajo. They both sound beautiful and mysterious to me.

Japanese, or maybe Spanish given the situation im in at the moment.
I would definitely go for Japanese.
Hungarian, followed by Tagalog.
Either Hebrew, Greek, or spanish
Does English count?
the language yoshi's speak
yah, you heard me punks, bring it
Ancient Egyptain. That way I could make millions teaching others!
Is Ancient Egyptain anything like Ancient Egyptian?
Japanese...
I tried to learn it once.. didtnt get far.
Otomodatchi mo coo-coo sei des ka?
yah thats about all I learned.. I think it means "Does your friend also go to high school". That is, if I spelled it right. Oh and of course I can count to 10 :p
And seeing as how spanish is seeming like a necessity... spanish.
plus, linguistically, Arabic is among the most perfect languages in grammar.Quote:

What do you mean, make millions on Ancient Egyptian? I have a book on it right next to me! What do you think my signature is in? Yep, that's the modern view of Ancient Egyptian :) .
Err... How is it "linguistically... among the most perfect languages in grammar?" Perhaps it is more regular (that is, with fewer intricacies of rules), but the designation of perfection or any level thereof is arbitrary.
Well , English is a necessity for me right Now (oh yeah, I have to work strong on it, hope you see the difference in few months, because of my international student status) , In addition I'm also interested in learn french, I want to finish my major in Canada.
:o :o Whatever people...Quote:

Howdy,
Sign language for talking to deaf people.
M.R.
~spanish~
Actually it means "Is your friend also a high school student?"Quote:

hehe, no, actually it would be Greek or German
Simlish
What I never understood about American's knowledge of Greek is why our alpha, beta, gamma, so on so on combines both ancient and modern greek sounds. Ancient greek would sound like alpa, beta, gamma, delta; but now it would sound alfa, veta, ghama, THelta; many different sounds.
either japaneese and chineese
if not those then french (being canadian and all) or one of the middle eastern languages.
french because it gets the ladies hawt (joke)
If I could instantly speak another language, it'd be either Latin or Japanese.
I think I would second that. Sign language looks pretty cool...Actually it would be cool to learn to read lips. Might come in handy ;)Quote:

汉语
عربي,

I would go for Yoruba one of the most widely spoken languages of West Africa...
So far i just know the basics that one uses in daily life...
like "Olori Buruki Ni E" :D ( i cant type it i only know how to speak it, even the right letters arent on my keyboard so well... )
Tibetan or any native american dialect.
Well
IMO I think you should learn a language that you can practice,
If not I don't see any future,
OK Thats why I'm telling you,
In my country is by law that everybody had to studied English,
We know the grammar rules, but We don't apply it ,
because we don't have anyone to practice, so we Knew but we don't use it, So is bad, well now I am studying in USA and realize that,
everybody speck so fast, and my English is not so good as I believed before, you know, that is gonna happened to you, so I recommend you to learn a language that you can use , I don't know maybe near to you is a China town, learn Chinese for example ,
OK I give you my personal opinion with my heart,
I hope this help you to decide (and if you decide for Spanish you know I'm just here)
and sorry for my English.

I wouldn't mind learning Latin. The language interests me.
I'd be more than willing to help people learn Latin, some Russian, or the arabic alphabet....just PM me if you want some pointers / grammar / vocab.
I'm gonna get some books on Navajo, too, so in the near future you can count on help with that.
FREE POINTERS OMGWTFBBQ!!!!:
-To learn to read lips, watch the news and look at their lips!
-ESPECIALLY IF THE NEWSCASTER IS TOM BROKAW :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
klingon
I would go with Japanese (currently self-study) and Arabic (hope to study soon).
> klingon
Make sure to wipe more next time.
I'm going to have to say Japanese.
I started back at Spanish classes yesterday, 2nd year. I'd pick instant Spanish to save the pain of these classes.
does spanish use the same characters as english ?Quote:

Its like a "built" language"...
Oooh if i could just remember the language name...
Anyway its not the end of the world maybe tomorow ill know the name:d.
Greets,
Ganglylamb.
That'd be horrible. Language is the most important thing EVER invented by man; it has never, can never, and will never be surpassed. It is what defines us as humans. Why dishonor that gift by making it only once?Quote:

What would you say it "was"? :)Quote:

No, no. That's not how it happened. One of them shot an arrow and missed the mammoth, and in his frustration kicked his foot into a rock. And thus language was born.
Well, clearly, there are elements of language that are arbitrary, such as the exact words (lexemes) that make up one's vocabulary, but there is a lot of strong evidence for many elements of language being innate.
german so i know what my g/f is syaing behind my back

Latin. It's a dead language, so I would never not know a new word. Plus, it's used by nearly every country.
Used by nearly every country? Je ne comprend pas.

Tu compende?
Well, I certainly knew about naming comventions and such. I thought you were talking about more widespread/common usage.
Je le comprend. :)
(And my use of french really had absolutely nothing to do with anything other than the fact that I was showing off that I still remember a few french words :) )
Same here. 5 years of school french classes, and I don't know 1-100.
Yeah... I remember a fair bit of the syntax (I think), but my vocabulary now consists of a few scattered words.
... Quite sad really, I think I'll have to pick it up again when I have some time.
