Why the hell would we ever wish sony to do something first? America is better, lets keep it that way.

I personally like PC games and think hand helds are the only other system that really should be out there since it is so much more portable. PCs only cost more, but if you get a console you end up spending a good deal anyways so why not just get a PC since you cna do so much more with it? You dont need the best system, theres plenty of quality games that run on lower end systems.

Oh well, consoles just dont seem worth it to me, ill stop before I rant too far.

That statement has as much ignorance as one of president Bush's national adress speeches. Japan is superior in the technology of video games and video game designs, do you live in a box?

Superior of video games...that would be why they can compete with us so well on the PC level, and designs...same thing.

If you try to swear, it replaces each letter with I am silly. Thus, if I wanted to use another word for shizzle, it'd show I am sillyI am sillyI am sillyI am silly.
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

There is so much wrong with this post that I don't know where to start so I won't. There are many advantages to consoles:

    1) The game designers have to meet the system specs... so your machine will always run the games designed for the system.

    2) consoles don't get viruses.

    3) I don't know about you, but playing halo on my 54" tv is a hell of a lot better than playing it on my 19" monitor.

    4) MULTIPLAY with all your friends in the same room and all they have to bring is controllers.

    need I go on?

There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Consoles are somewhat more portable and developers only have one setup to plan for, not the thousands of different setups that come along with PCs. PCs have more possibilities than just games, and RTS games usually suck on consoles .
Do not make direct eye contact with me.

what about game design companies, if they want their games to be cross platform, wron't they have to use Xbox2 specs instead of talking full advantage of new video cards, althoug the time it takes to surpass the xbox might be enough. how about an open source console?

I wouldnt say there is sooo much wrong with my post as there are plenty of counter examples for your post.

Can you surf the internet? Nope. Just need to bring controllers? Yeah, and then have a small screen and you can also see what everyone else is doing at the same time, granted you can see the small squares. There is a narrower spectrum of games. Not nearly as many buttons. That and the mouse is much better for FPS games and feels so much more natural(I started as a console gamer, so I didnt get used to the mouse and then go to controller, other way around.).

There are many reasons one way or the other...I guess that is why one of them isn't phased out, but I still stand that PC is much better(for me).

use the money to upgrade your computer rather than buy a console so you'll have no problems running games.

    >consoles don't get viruses.
anti-virus. you'll never get a virus as long as you update(most of the time)

    > I don't know about you, but playing halo on my 54" tv is a hell of a lot better than playing it on my 19" monitor.
    S-video cards. works perfect

    >MULTIPLAY with all your friends in the same room and all they have to bring is controllers.
i hate playing with more than one person on a single tv monitor. besides there is WAY more multiplayer support for pcs. also in order to network and actually have 'real' fun you'd have to provide seperate tv's. and with game consoles every person has to of bought a seperate copy of the game when you can easily get a crack for the pc and save hundereds of dollars on a lan party.

The arguments against consoles are numerous, and personally I am a PC person. But consoles have a different feel, that is hard to get on a computer. Sitting on the couch in front of the TV, with just a controller, is often very fun. I wouldn't mind having a PS2, but I will always have a PC as well.
