You're right. That's exactly what it is.

    > They didn't want the war to start with, so why should they have the joy of something good out of it

I said it before, but you obviously missed it. I didn't want it, but it happened, so I'm grateful for whatever positive things come out of it.

    > It's all the rewards without work

What work did you do for it?

    > I think it's almost low for Govtcheez to go around talking crap about Bush and the war, then go "Way to go team" when a good outcome happens

It's because I'm not going to deny catching Saddam was a good thing, as long as we were over there. Do I need to skywrite it over your house for you to understand it?

Zakk single-handedly took down 20 Iraqis and saved Private Lynch from her comfortable hospital bed, not to mention shot the evil nurse attending to her.

Well. I have a cousin in the military stationed out there. I send gifts to many of the troops stationed out there. (Personal gifts for moral and the sort that the goverment doesn't really supply). And I give them 100% of my support for what they do because I believe in what they fight for. Basically I give what I can. So. What have you done besides $$$$$?

Edit: Ah. Ken again. I actually think the Lynch thing was VERY overhyped. She was a soldier and got captured. I hate what she went through, but the ones who made the biggest sacrifice at all get less credit than her because shes a woman?

There is a difference between supporting the troops and supporting the politicians that sent them over there.
And there is nothing wrong with changing your opinon. When this whole thing started I was very much for it. However after seeing the effects I'm starting to rethink my position.
But one thing that will always be true (for me): On Sep 12th I was very much glad we didn't have Gore as president.

    No way! Gore forever!

It would be cool if Arnold was president, just for fun.

As much as I like the guy, I would be scared to see Arnold as president atm.

Excellent point. I wish more people would realize that.

Hang on a second... Can you imagine all of the cheesy one-liners that'd fill up the State of the Union address.

I also support the troops 100%. They're in a terrible place doing things no one wants to do, but they do it because it is their job. I wouldn't want to do it, but I'm thankful they're willing to.

I don't have any relatives in the war, but if I did, you could rest assured that they would have all the support I could give. At another board I'm a member of, they are raising money to buy an ill-equipped unit (the Pentagon doesn't think their unit has a high priority for armor, so they get armor that's not suited to what they're doing) new armor plates. I'm probably going to donate to that, once I can free up some money. They've raised over $10K so far. (www.somethingawful.com)

    Is that enough for you?

How can you sit there and say things such as you dont support the war, but you support the war? They are there doing things they believe in. They risk their lives and people like you sit on the computer and say what they are doing shouldn't be happening. How would you feel if many of your friends died and someone said to you that what they died for shouldn't have happened? And as good as that is, donating money, I don't really think giving out money is really supporting 100%. Thats my honest opinion on that.

He's not supporting the war, he's supporting the troops...Careful Zakk, or you might end up like Aprog...

Anyways, don't you have to be born in the US to be the president?

    Oh, Jesus.

    > How can you sit there and say things such as you dont support the war, but you support the war?

I don't support the WAR. The WAR was decided upon by politicians who I feel either misinterpreted information or were just wrong. I support the TROOPS. The TROOPS are average guys who either want to serve their country, or, frequently, want to get some money for college. The TROOPS are on the line here, while the politicians who decided that WAR is the best idea sit back in Washington, planning re-election campaigns.

Is that clear enough, or do you need pictures? Maybe a pop-up book?

    > How would you feel if many of your friends died and someone said to you that what they died for shouldn't have happened?

Alright, this is where I draw the line. $$$$ you. I have had friends die in this, you miserable piece of $$$$. I still oppose the war, though. Wrap your little marble-sized brain around that.

    > And as good as that is, donating money, I don't really think giving out money is really supporting 100%

And in your honest opinion, what should I do? Drive to Walmart and spend $.50 on some crappy American flag decal to put on my car? Because that's as much as most people who claim to support the troops do.

    edit:
    > Anyways, don't you have to be born in the US to be the president?

    Yes.

    >> Anyways, don't you have to be born in the US to be the president?

    Yep.

    >> How can you sit there and say things such as you dont support the war, but you support the war?

    He's not.

    >> They risk their lives and people like you sit on the computer and say what they are doing shouldn't be happening. How would you feel if many of your friends died and someone said to you that what they died for shouldn't have happened?

What a ridiculous argument. Many many many people around the world die for or because of things that shouldn't have happened. And how one feels about that does not change the fact that it happens. Additionally, he is saying that they should not be over there, and should not be dying. What is so wrong about that?

You are digging yourself a nice deep hole. I suggest you don't dig any further.

Tonnes of people die in vain. Just look at the Vietnam war.

Also, it is thought like your statement why there is unease between peoples long after wars are resolved.

edit: (BTW, soldiers who fight in wars understand the implications before they join the army. It's a career choice, like any other.)
