Sure they do. Do you think I could go about my business for 2 years and have them not find out? My parents aren't stupid.
    So when you said this:

    >>Well you’re already having sex

You know that. My parents don't. Nuf said.
    You were lieing?

Actually, no, I wasn't. I have come to find out since that thread that they do know. A lot has happened since I posted that rant.

This is not about me or my sex life. I asked a pointed question to a certain individual and I don't need the two of you badgering me.

    >>yes, i do, because if you were careful, you could have easily hidden it for two years, which is a relatively short amount of time.

WOW... thanks for "dumbing that down" for me. It's a good thing I have you around to explain things to me.

bah... ya know what? F this. I'm sick of arguing pointlessly about this with you two. -Ken-, ignore my question, I don't want to know the answer. Maybe I don't accept the scientific findings you posted earlier Clyde. I don't care. I don't care at all. Ya know what? Let em get married. Change my f-ing vote. I don't give a $$$$ anymore. It doesn't affect me one goddamn bit. I said my piece on the religious side and I'll let it sit at that. I'm out of this discussion.

All i'm saying is that given your circumstances (or your prior circumstances) you should understand why he might not want to tell his parents.

Oh hay Ober, nice dancing around the question of whether your extramarital sex is as much as an abomination as my life. Picking and choosing from the bible is a really $$$$ty thing to do. I have more respect for fundies than I do you - why? Because at least they follow the bible completely. You just take whatever you want from it, and leave the stuff that doesn't suit you.

Napkin got it right, though. Hell, my mom still thinks that black people are inferior to whites. She's not a big fan of homosexuality gaining any ground, and I don't need to deal with her knowing I'm gay while still dependant on her and my father.

    Your monumental idiocy astounds me.

Why? The heterosexual couple was married.

There are more (tax benefits, what happens in case of sudden death, etc, etc.), and that's the real injustice. A SECULAR government can't give a certain part of the population benefits while excluding another part "because the bible says so".

That's true. I suppose I agree with giving gays the same benefits of marriage, just have a moral opposition to actually calling it 'marriage'.

    Just my opinion, of course.

You think gay people can't fall in love, that's utter nonsense. Damnit why do so many of you people hold strong opinion when you lack so much information on the topic?
How should I put this...There seems to be a big problem here, as there can be many definitions of love. First of all, how would you define it?

On the original topic, I believe the government will allow gay and lesbian marriages, but will it stop there? I doubt it. As more people decide they want to have an "alternative" lifestyle, the government will be faced with more and more problems...The solution? There is none. That's the problem. The only way I can see complete national and international peace is if people decide that there is only one way to live and be happy. And as far as humanity can see now, that will never happen.

Yeah, I know! I mean, people will be marrying their cars!!!

I think everyone knows that marriage can only be between consenting adult human beings. Letting gay men and women marry won't do anything but right a wrong in this country.

this view is flawed... there aren't more homosexuals now, they're just more open about it because people have become more understanding.

I agree with you on this part... there will never be a day when everybody agrees on everything.

I think you took my first point the wrong way. What I meant is that people may want to marry, for example, their sibling...I don't believe that is legal at the moment, but if you are allowing homosexuals to marry, someone else might be upset that they don't have that right

oh, i took 'alternative' to mean homosexual... sorry... that is a good point... but even then, I'm still pro-choice, so I wouldn't have a problem with that being legal.

Marrying your first cousin is legal in ~13 states...I'm not sure about sibling, but I don't see why not. It's creepy, and I doubt very many ever end up even dating, but if they really wanted to get married, who's to stop them?

I registered just to respond to this.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. On top of being naive and uninformed, it's depressing and pessimistic.

People can disagree about how to live and get along just fine. It's called 'tolerance' or 'diversity' or 'the open society'. It's the foundation of the success of the Western world. And it works - the US, Canada, and Europe are phenomenally peaceful and successful.

Nature provides examples, too. Diverse populations succeed, monocultures die out.

Go do some reading. Pretty much *any* respectable book on history, culture, and society will do. Heck, a good history of science should do the trick.
