In 1999 Israel's GNP was 104 billion. i'm thinking they would manage ok without the aid.

(the combined GNPs for Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria was 38 billion.)

    >>something that Israel has not done to anyone else. They have shown great patience as far as I am concerned - on two counts - 1) That the UN keeps meddling with their weak resolutions against them,

This is in most part because the US keeps vetoing UN resolutions against Israel.
If the US is so concerned over Iraqs violations of the UNSC, why is it not over Israels' violations?

    >>it wasn't a pre emptive strike, it was in retaliation with the latest bombing

So Israel had proof that the bomber came from Syria and was not Hanadi Jaradat, a 27-year-old woman from the West Bank town of Jenin (who's brother was killed at his home by Israeli forces a few months ago)?

Could you post a link to the proof used to justify an act of war against a neighbour.

    >>that and they're Jewish not arab

What does the religion or race have to do with anything.
Or are you saying the US support is based on RACISM or BIGOTRY?

    EDIT:
Is this being reported in the US?

US veto on Israel wall protest

" The United States was the only country to vote against the resolution, using its veto as one of five permanent members of the council."

" During the open debate, almost all countries condemned the wall. Many delegates lamented that the wall crossed over the "Green Line" delineating Israel's pre-1967 boundary with the Palestinian territories and categorised it as a violation of international law, including the UN Charter and the Geneva Conventions.

Several countries said the wall would not be nearly as objectionable if it were built solely on Israeli land."

Hmm...I haven't yet heard that it was based on anything

novacain I never said Israel had any proof on the attack, but the simple fact is they did it in a relatitory attack, it wasn't pre emptive or anything.

I think the world is pessimistic on the pre emptive mentality right now. Novacain it is ironic that you and I are 'arguing' but yet we are both disgusted with the same things...I never said I agreed with anything I've posted, they're just more or less facts.

Explain. How did major tax cuts hurt your parents?

if the only thing that happened economically because of him was tax cuts, we'd be fine. But the way he ran everything screwed the economy all up. Jobs were GONE in this area (northern IL and prob many other places) for about 2 years, the first 2 years of my life. Because of the way the economy was going the landlord that my parents rented from 3 months prior to me being born was sold to someone. At approx. the same time my Dad and 500 other people were laid off from Sunstrand. My parents had to scrape together and borrow any money they could to buy a dumpy house at a busy intersection a few miles from town. My parents have been deep in debt ever since then. Because of Reagan's great economic strategies my parents cannot send me to college, I have to take out student loans for everything and hope I get a job that's good enough to pay them off, and help pay my parents for everything they've sacrificied to get me and my little brother what we have. Reagan can suck my dick.

generalities. fascinating, you sound like arnold. Fitting for this thread, but not respectable for the bashing you forced on us. Be specific. What part of Reagan's economic policy screwed up the economy in your area?

Amazing how much you followed politics at that age.

I have a more likely reason. But I don't want to be insulting to your family.

Political threads never go anywhere. Can this be locked? It's a waste of space.

Gotta agree with that one. My student loan debt could buy me three brand new cars.

    To FYB:
as you know im young, young enough to not have first hand experience with Reagan, what i Do know is what my dad has told me about those times. I dont' recall specifics of his policy, I just remember that his policies in general are what screwed things up here. I would like to explain myself further but I can't so sorry. Therefore, no matter what I could say to any of the above in rebuttle, none of it would do any good as you would have a response anyway. So, I'd like us to accept the fact that what he did was good for some people, but was not good for the industrial sector in my area.

I see. Alright then. There's something you should know about politics. A lot of people throw rhetoric around with no specifics and nothing to back it up. Your parents have a political affiliation and are no doubt loyal to that party. Understand that and you'll understand why I say you should learn to think for yourself and back up your ideas with actual facts.

you will. and for a time you'll be right there with the reagan haters. then... perhaps at 30, perhaps at 40, you'll grow out of it and realize that logic doesn't lean in that direction. In any case, good luck to you.
