my trip to california
i went to san jose california for the National Youth Leadership Forum on technology. I know others here went to that, in fact I met up with and am currently working on an elaborate project with jverkoey on these boards. Here's a link to 7MB of jpegs that Jeff Verkoeyen took while we were there
among the pictures:
ceo of Intel
ceo of Lockheed martin
ceo of Cisco
ceo of takingITglobal
santa clara university (and the underwater robot we got to drive!)
Jason Morales from S2 games (one of the programmers working on Savage)
and there's tons of pictures of me Jeff, and the other members of the developersalliance
My guidance counselor tried to get me to go to that. Ain't no way I was paying to go to that.
What WAS it? What did you guys do? Summarize, summarize, summarize!
well basically it's a thing for nominated computer geeks to go to in order to meet up with *real* people in the technology field, and to get a feel of how to get into the industry. As I mentioned above I got to meet with those CEOs, we also had to develop and solve a real world problem for a competition and present it in front of judges (my group tried hypothesizing an inter contintental aircraft that burned loose hydrogen in the atmosphere to go really fast). the whole thing took place in a big hotel called the fairmont.
We were presented to by the CEOs above, they basically just told us what their company was like, how to get good at technology, what qualities they look for, et cetera et cetera. and I also got to go to silicon graphics and take a tour of that building, we went to san fransisco (fisherman's wharf) just as a 'goof off day' (yes, like a real vacation! omg!), I met a dude from IBM, I attended a computer animation thing from cogswell polytec. I didn't present anything, but because I'm a part of TDA I was present when Jeff and other members showed off the game 'escape from the funky factory' in front of about 25 other people (there were 'peer to peer' seminars where you could present anything you wanted to other people, I was going to present my quake3 bsp renderer but I was afraid I wouldn't have enough done on it in time, which I didn't).
and also at the end of each night they had like four separate networked computer labs where people would go ape $$$$ on counter strike, lol
Sounds like fun.
Oh, and speaking of TDA, when the heck are we going to start planning our next project, or are we already? I haven't posted there in like forever, but I will help you guys with the next project.
we're already working on it.
