    speed charts?

Is there any "chart" of speed comparing languages such as VB, C++, and JAVA against eachother? like comparisons on how fast they compile, how fast the programs operate. I am mainly wondering, cause I have this one friend who is convinced VB is actually faster than C++(which he thinks is a dinosaur). He also thinks PERL is faster, except for the fact that its kind of different because perl is a scripting language.

    Depends on what you're compiling.

im talking about a heavy server app, say, a program that sorts and organizes and runs multiple databases, and can copy data from one encryption set to another. Yes , I know, not that hardest thing, but still, I believe stuff like that is beyond VB.

I've managed DBs with VB before - it's nothing special.
