Don't do drugs...
I just thought I'd give everyone here that advise.
Me and my friend each dropped three "yellow jackets" a while ago. We're pretty small guys, and I'm feeling sick. So, don't do drugs, m'kay...
You might say "Caffiene is not a drug." Yeah, well 900mgs of it all at once in a 120lb person is a drug. LOL, don't pay attention to my insane state of mind...
-
After just now starting to feel dizziness, I decide to do a search on google for the fatal dosage of caffiene (I heard somewhere it was around 40grams) but I wanted to make sure.
The overdosage is about 350mgs. I took 900mgs. This scared the crap outta me! But, before jumping to conclusions, I kept on reading the article and it said most overdoses do not lead to death. Even further, it said the average approximate amount of a fatal caffiene overdose is 10+ grams. *wipes sweat from brow*
Again, do not do drugs...lol.
---
"The minimum lethal dose of caffeine given intravenously was 3.2 grams.
While coffee drinkers often have caffeine blood concentration of about 1-10 mg/L, a concentration of 80 mg/L is considered lethal."
-
i drink about 1-4+ cups of tea a day... i am addicted, oh well...
Did you know they keep caffiene on hand in hospitals now to be given interveinously to patients who drink coffee and tea to prevent complications?
-
No-one, I did not know that...
Yanno, I love caffiene as much as the next programmer, but I seriously took way too much tonight. I tried going to bed a while ago, but I couldn't. I got up and felt very uncomfortable. I didn't know caffiene could be this uncomfortable, but it is...
I was/am pale and my pupils were/are dialated. This seriously isn't cool...
I hope this wears off soon :(
-
yeah... caffine is dangerous stuff, as anything like it, not a smart thing ODing on it, well then again neither is being addicted to it... i get a headache something terrible sometimes if i don't get enough caffine.
-
>yeah... caffine is dangerous stuff<
It really is. About 5 am this morning (it's 12:00pm right now) I woke up from like a 2 minute nap (I have no idea how I actually managed to sleep). I was still feeling the affects of the yellow jackets and I almost vomited. Everything was spinning and stuff. I swore to myself I wouldn't ever consume caffeine again.
I'm drinking a glass of soda as I post this message...
-
>>> i drink about 1-4+ cups of tea a day... i am addicted, oh well...
I'm on at least double that. Two before leaving home, 2-3 during the morning coding session, 2-3 in the afternoon session, then 1-2 after dinner. Big deal?
>>> I'm drinking a glass of soda as I post this message...
Glass of cold white wine as I post...
-
adrain, you are my caffine idol, i only wish i could consume that much an walk...
-
>Glass of cold white wine as I post...<
Mmm....I bet that'd hamper my post caffeine overdose-induced jitters. I love white wine....
-
Which tea has caffiene? Is it the American stuff? The British stuff? The Japanese stuff? The Chinese stuff? Which one?
-
My personal favourite is Russian Earl Grey, I have a big box of this at the office. At home we mostly use Assam, Darjeeling or Earl Grey. We also have a liking for gunpowder tea at the weekends, mid afternoon.
Now drinking Concha-y-Torro Sunrise Merlot 2000. I think the 1999 was a bit better, but generally would recomend Chilean wine.
-
What is "yellow jackets"?
-
>Which tea has caffiene?<
Just like coffee, most tea is naturally caffeinated. What nation it comes from doesn't make a difference.
But also, just like coffee, there are some types of naturally decaffeinated tea.
>What is "yellow jackets"?<
Basically energy pills. Each pill contains 300mg of caffeine alkaloids. 3 come in a package...
-
decaffinated tea is horrible.
-
I really like that rasberry flavored tea. Did you ever try that stuff?
-
>I really like that rasberry flavored tea. Did you ever try that stuff?<
Mmm...that stuff is good. I got a sampler package of like raspberry, orange, cherry, etc. Raspberry is my favorite one...
-
Yeah, I once had mint tea. HORRIBLE!!!
Orange is okay. So, what is "yellow jackets"?
-
Garfield, you must read all the posts! Hehe...
On the first page right after you asked that I answered. They're basically energy pills containing 300mgs of caffeine alkaloids...
-
So, why would you intentionally take caffine?
-
Caffeine is fun! I like buzzing on caffeine. I didn't know it was gonna be as strong as it was though.
I took it around 10:30 last night. It's now 2:40 in the afternoon, and I can still feel the affects...
-
> I took it around 10:30 last night. It's now 2:40 in the afternoon, and I can still feel the affects...
Huh! If I need to stay up to program, I'll just drink a Cola or Mountain Dew or Dr. Pepper. That's enough. In fact, I'm going to pull an all-nighter (not going to sleep) this week.
I like to pull all-nighters even if I don't have school work to do. I'll just program (or read about programming) for 6 hours straight. It's a rush! That's what programming does to you.

Lemon zinger is definitely classic.

DAMN, I already have an addiction!
I'm addicted to this friggin board!
You know, once upon a time, I was making one hell of a program, I had a question, a friend of mine told me to come here, and now I'm addicted to it
Oskilian
-
there you have it, this board is the ultimate drug.
-
But I need a cure or something to overcome this addiction!
I need to get back on working on my project!
Oskilian
-
that's the point, I have a nice 15 posts/day, I don't wanna be left behind!
Oskilian
-
Hey, what did the 'old board' look like? I only joined about a week ago, so I got no idea... You guys seem to have been here a long time now, right?
-
Honestly, I can't remember.
It's archived for reference (or at least it was) at http://cprogram.hypermart.net/cgi-bi...UltraBoard.pl. Hey webmaster, fix that link!
-
It's tough to keep my 15 posts (more or less) per day with school. I just have to rack out a lot on the weekends to make up for it.
You're getting MSVC++? 6.0? Enterprise? How much does that cost?

>>what did the 'old board' look like?
Here is a thread I saved from the old board.
BTW, What happend to Chemanuel?
-
I guess there are a lot of people here from the old board. Not me. I'm fairly new.
-
Wow, that was nostalgic...
I really liked the old blue on blue color scheme...
I barely ever get to post anymore...oh well...School is slowly trying to ween me off cprogramming.com! NOOOOO!!!!
-
I miss the old board. It was simple yet elegant (sigh). I still go back there sometimes.:)
-
>>I miss the old board. It was simple yet elegant (sigh). I still go back there sometimes
how? can you post a link (the one that the webmaster provides doesn't work)
-
>>> BTW, What happend to Chemanuel?
He moved house, country and job, (although for the same company). He was working in Holland but was moving to mainland Spain. He told me he hoped to be back on the board at some unspecified time in the future. I hope so to, nice guy I thought.

> He moved house, country and job, (although for the same company). He was working in Holland but was moving to mainland Spain.
How'd you learn this?

>>> How'd you learn this?
Errrr, we talk?

Yes he is(as far as I knew him), and had some good answers too

I don't think the old board is still available. but there is a zip file af few posts up zo you can see how it looked.
-
maes:
>>> I thought he lived in tenerife
No, he was born there, but there is little work for his particular talent there, (bio-chemical engineering), only a small oil refinery which didn't hold any interest for him. He is researching enzyme activity.
Hillbille:
>>> Oh, didn't you know? adrianxw is a psychic
I knew you were going to say that.
-
Thank you all for you interest and nice stuff!
Yes Iīm back but cannot promise to be often enough to catch up.
Wow, last time I was here was so long ago that I canīt remember.
adrianxw, I managed to modify the algorithm but your colleague was right: the trick is in deciding which are the starting points!!
Let me wish you all a Happy New Year (Euro-Year at this side of Europe).
Till next time.

LoL...I don't remember the old board looking like that. I use to have a different name back then though. Hmm...I don't remember it looking like that...
