You Americans really believe in what you are talking, right? So you could have other people extradited while you yourself deny extradition of American citizens in general? Man, I whish I had your moral. Thats sickening.

It's exactly this attitude that I feel is rather sickening. I was referring to "right" and "wrong", moral standards and not to "who has the bigger.... gun". (In the end the power of your army doesn't even matter if some idiot blows up your cities with nuclear bombs...)

Some days ago I saw a thread about the US' position as the worlds technology leader on this board. You can't imagine it, but I almost fell off my chair because I couldn't stop laughing.
I fell again when I heard the there was a massive power failure in the US just a few days later. Technology leader. Over ground power lines. No redundant backup system. Anyway, I'm offtopic...

So where did we stop. Ah yes, the world's best army right? I think I agree with you. The US definetly wastes the most money for weapons of all countries in the world.
I guess you'll use your army to force Canada to extradite a poor little guy who downloaded a few MP3 files, heh? Not even your current president would to that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those "the US is bad" guys. I'm just against people who think they have more rights than other human beings have and right now in this very moment, I think you are one of them.

That doesn't have anything to do with nationality. That has to do with individual stupid people. And you're just arguing semantics. Most of the P2P trade is copyrighted material - you can't argue that.

    Shut up.
    No redundant backup system.
What country do you live in? Is it anywhere near the size of the US, or even near the size of the area the blackout covered? Is your power grid run by the state or by many competing companies? Do you really think that a power grid counts as "technology"?

I'm with darksaidin on this one, the size of a country and its army has nothing to do with whats right or wrong, and its disgusting you feel that it should. Downloading peoples work for free rather than paying for it is wrong, but believing that the size of an army should be used to influence politics is much worse.

I can't remember who it was, but some old guy predicted a bunch of civilzations that would become world superpowers and eventually collapse (rome etc) as all superpowers do. It will be a sad day when America loses its superiority (because a much meaner country might get in control, and use their power for evil etc, plus destabilizing power. But hey, Australia might be the ones to get in power ), but it will also be funny watching Americans still believe they are almighty, even when they have no advantages anymore. Very sad.

I kind of waited for this question. ;-) Well, I'd call myself a European. I guess "old Europe" isn't any smaller than the US (in citizens). And even though Europe is split up in several states with different languages, traditions and whatnot... we have a global power grid that includes most european states with enough redundand capacity that it doesn't matter if a few power lines fail or not. Even if several stations in my homecountries powernetwork were down/destroyed/whatever, we'd still get power from the other countries. (Would be a bit expensive over time though ;-) ) Afaik the only thing that could turn off the lights in the cities would be a nuclear pulse in the stratosphere.

And yes. I do think that something simple like a power grid (behind the "front") very well is an indication for the quality of the visible technology. It's like a fresh painted house where the inside is all rotten and close to the collapse. (DON'T GET THIS WRONG! The US is certainly *NOT* close to a collapse or something. I was only trying to clarify what I mean with "behind the front"!)

Anyway, this was pretty offtopic now, wasn't it

Oh sure, and we should ignore the great benefits p2p, because criminals use it, like we should ignore boats because smugglers use them.

USA: 9.3 million kmē, 250 million citizens
Europe: 10.5 million kmē, 710 million citizens

    Now what.
