    The demon respawns

I know what's going on here, and I'm going to get around it in a few minutes...but first...

for those of you running WinXP...

navigate over to your Windows\system32\ directory. Find sol.exe - that damn Solitaire game. Click on it. Hold down shift, and push delete. Confirm that you want to delete this God-forsaken game. Sit there and watch where that icon was for a few seconds.

    The bastard comes back.

Die, MS, die. Solitaire is not an essential Windows program.
    Away.

Of course not! Now minesweeper on the other hand...
The word rap as it applies to music is the result of a peculiar phonological rule which has stripped the word of its initial voiceless velar stop.

Well I don't have the standard games installed, so sol.exe wasn't in the system32 directory, but it IS in the hidden directory "dllcache" if you don't have it installed for some reason...

    ...

    it didn't come back

Well, on the other hand, you told windows to install it, so it must be essential to you... from a windows point of view

Speaking of which... Anyone know where to get info on what the hell all these MS Services are that are running, or have run, on my system? A list of the so called 'services' includes, "Messenger", which anyone who owns XP knows, is the devil itself. The worst and most insidious, invasive, application ever to come bundled with an OS. Imagine my surprise upon booting up my new XP system and being invited to "See me live on a webcam at blahblahwhatever.com". It didnt take me very many seconds to discover how to kill that little bastard. But what else lurks beneath the pretty deceitful little GUI that is XP? I'm really only interested in the evil stuff.

It goes against my obsesive compulsive nature tio allow that many apps to execute without my knowledge. Considering I had my 98 system down to 5, this is just horrible.

I'm really enjoying XP, its a million times better than any other MS OS I've used. But it does even more stuff for you than before, and it prevents even more messing around. I dont want my OS wasting clock cycles checking to see if I deleted Solitare. If I'm stupid enough to delete the entire system32 directory, I frickin should be able to.

I feel like I'm an ace pilot put in a brand new super-sonic plane. I get in all excited. Suddenly I'm surrounded with crash-resistance foam, and cant move. The plane takes off and lands by itself.
