Legal Question: May I put my name(e-mail link) on the interface of a product

Legal Question: May I put link (developer/product website/contact e-mail) on the interface of a product developed from my own earlier product for my company.

I think I deserve it. Any convention on this issue? What's your opinion?

You mean that you put a link to your website or your e-mail address on a product of your company? I don't think your company would like that, it is the product of your company, not your personal product. You may have developed it, but it still is owned by the company.

If you put a link to your website or your e-mail address on the product of the company, then they could see this the same way as you put a link to the website of an other company on the product. So they could see you as a competitor advertising on their products, I don't think that is legal.

The way the world works now, your employer basically owns your labor (moreso for salaried positions) and the products of that labor. Unless Indian law is drastically different or you somehow managed to negotiate a fair employment contract with your employer, you would probably be violating your employer's "intellectual property rights."

Maybe if your employer is gracious, they will agree if you ask them. You better get that agreement in writing with signatures and dates!

The purpose of working for a company usually isn't to advertise for yourself. You can legally put your name in your source code, which your company owns. You might be able to get away with a 'Credits' dialog. It all depends on the kind of software, how popular it is, and things like that. You could probably get away with distributing it online with your name on it. It all depends.

One more information, here my designation is System Administrator & Programmer.
And this is an ISP. I had an ISP Billing software for Pre-paid & Post-paid Dial-up users. I developed it when I was in other company where I was the System Administrator. I own that product and even the recent updated one. They are agreed on it. But both company have the right to use.

If you own it, then you should be able to do with it as you please. You might want to consult a lawyer though.
