    Age of Spiritual Machines

Has anyone else read the book Age of Spiritual Machines by Ray Kurzwell. If you haven't, you should read it. I'm just looking for someone to chat with about it, because its the best book I've ever read...mind boggling, takes me like half a year to read a page, but still the best. Actually I'm only on page 50 so far.

    Hey.

Man I read Ray Kurzweil. He rocks. Not sure if I read age of spiritual machines or one of his other books, but I did read some of his stuff.

I think this guy has very good ideas about the future of computing.

If you like his books you'll like the book "Things that think"... I think that's the name. It tells about the stuff they're doing at MIT. Man, hacker Mecca that place.

Else look around for wearables. I think their'e gonna be the next killer accessory. The tech is just developing so slowly!!

    Anyway.

    Just my 2c worth.

things that think? I'll look into that. It is taking me forever to read Age of Spiritual Machines because I have to stop and think 15 mins on every single page. pgs 346 to 368 in the back of the book are filled with 'further reading' materials. This stuff really blows my mind though.

I'll finish it, but it will take me forever. Its not my copy either. Its just so mind boggling when you actually think about what's presented in the book.

The book didn't boggle myself too much, but then, I am kinda weird.

I just kinda devoured the book.

I just got one complaint: He kinda skips the whole issue of "is a copy of the mind the original" by ignoring it.

But on the whole front of cybernetic forecasting he's a whole lot further than guys like Kevin Warwick.

Kevin Warwick, btw, is the British guy who implanted an RFID chip in his arm and then wrote a book claiming that he is the first real cyborg. Talk about lame. And his other books are boring as a cardboard breakfast. I made the mistake of buying one called "The mind of a machine".

Anyway, gotta get back to work.

Well the book is far out because I haven't really heard anything like it before, he challenged the way I thought because I hadn't thought of things the same way he had. At the same time his ideas are practial and cannot really be wrong, so he's not really 'that far out there' and not 'that mind boggling'. Yeah it's a good book. Haven't finished yet.
