They've already built systems which worked in decimal. Although the ones i've heard of were pre-semiconductor/transistor era and worked mechanically. There's no practical reason to switch away from using binary, we can just keep adding levels of abstraction to achieve desired goals.

We all know that computers process binary code (1010...) and that it somehow (I don't know exactly) they send information to different components which do their required job. But how do you think computers will work in the future? Will we still use a binary system or will it evolve into something more complex?
Has someone already started developing a system that is completely different?
I read a quote somewhere which said "Most problems in computer science can be solved with another level of abstraction" or something similar.
