    Newbie problems after first linux install ever...

    I installed Red Hat Linux 7.3, and this is what I noticed immediately after installing:

    1) Unable to add ethernet device in network configuration (ethernet is not an extension card, it's build into my motherboard)

    2) No sound support (Also, no extension card)

    3) Games like TuxRacer go like a slug

    I looked on the ATI website for xFree86 drivers with 3d acceleration, and it sent me to http://dri.sourceforge.net/

    My video card is Radeon 7000 series, but on the ATI website the 7000 series wasn't included here

    Here is my hardware:

    The linux found it? you configured it? (change the details)
    Code:
    ifconfig eth0 10.200.1.1 netmask 255.0.0.0


    2) No sound support (Also, no extension card)
    Try running as root (#) this command:
    sndconfig



    3) Games like TuxRacer go like a slug
    Go to the url, that you received, download, install, load the modules and all will be fine.
