C Board vs. Flashdaddee

Well, which do you use? Which do you think is better and why?

I'm bored today, so I thought I'd give Flashdaddee a try, but I don't think I'm too fond of it. Some things are nice, like the way it seems less formal than the C Board, but it's C/C++ forum had little traffic. Also, the fact that they clumped those two languages together while ASM gets its own forum there kinda irks me. Flashdaddee's forums look a bit nicer and have some interesting smiles and bigger avatars, but as a result, they take forever to load on my 56K modem. I think that's the main reason why I won't at least check out their GD forum.

I hope this doesn't start a flame war. I was just interested to hear your thoughts.:cool:

I am sure we had a similar discussion to this not so long ago!!

FD's most active programming boards are its ASM board and the OS Development board (which is mostly done in ASM) - that's why they have their own boards.

I'll keep this open as long as there's no pointless flaming of either site.

Two nice boards, but I still think, cprogramming is better (for me). It suits all my needs, all that I search about c/c++ I find it here.

I do much prefer cprogramming because it is more newbie friendly!!

That's not very nice - I think we're very mature over there - we just love our fart jokes.

I was wondering - how many people here that are voting that cprog's way better are actually contributing members at both sites?

I'am not a member there, but I always see their threads and so one, just like I said, I prefer cprogramming, but they are very professional too.

FD rocks, and on the subject of maturity, I'd take FD anyday. But if you're looking for help on C/C++, there's no real reason to go there... this whole freakin site is dedicated to it, so why would you think there would be more help over there?? :confused:

Well, I wasn't including you in that, of course. I don't think I've ever met someone so opposed to the discussion of the rectal expulsion of gases than you.

I can't particularly vote...for inane discussion and general horseplay it's FD. For programming it's most definitely cprog. you can't really compare the two. Maybe the two GD boards...

Meh. And I wouldn't feel right voting since I'm on a "break" from FD...

Personaly, I think this is the last thread I'll ever want read on Flashdaddee VS Cprog.

Not my spelling. I spell equally badly in both places.

i have laughed more at Flashdaddee than i have at CProg, and i've been at Cprog for 1.5x longer than i've been at FD.

Yhe questions at FD are of a higher level than CProg's inane repetitious newbie questions. I guess that means thatthe users of FD actually have half a brain to look up what they want to find instead of posting inane garbage all day long without even giving a thought to looking at google.


Cprog GD is boring for the most part.

Nah... it's just the type of person who asks those inane questions is more likely to stumble upon cprogramming.com by dumb luck rather than flashdaddee.com.

I only use cprogramming.com - but that is only because I didn't think to type flashdaddee.com in my navigation bar when I needed help with cprogramming one time. ;)

Has some nice graphic features, tough the colors would start
iritating me after a while. FD is more.....lets say relaxed, whe
are here so serious with programming, might a topic turn

There's a reason for that. Less questions/interest in C and C++, yet lots of interest in Assembly is probably that reason.

Anyway, people tend to compare FD and CProg. I don't think that's fair for either side. Each side has it's own thing, and many people like them both for that. CProg is a place you come to learn a few things, help a few people out, etc. FD is a place you come to let loose and listen to the awful Ober-hairy and Ken's mom jokes.

Point well taken. Thanks, everybody, for explaining the difference between the two. For the record, I did search this Board for recent posts about flashdaddee and wasn't satisfied that those threads covered this topic sufficiently. But, I'll never post about FD again. And I think I'll stick around here. Some of the things you guys were saying about FD is a little scary . . .
