Next year I'm going into a computer science theory and analysis program at a university. I was wondering if anyone out there had done a similar program, if so how was it?

what university? im going to University of Central Florida this next summer semester, majoring in Computer Science. Its party time, WAHOOOOOO
Yeah, it's very nice to study Computer Sciences...
BUT there are those damn univerisyt requirmentSSSSS, I hate them for many reasons: They waste your time, you don't get good grades, they are not related to Computer Sciences...
I went to a college CTI. Requirements -> Matric (grade 12). Got my diploma in computer science, and it's validated by the university of Cambridge (in Londen I think).Quote:

No, believe it or not, the University of Cambridge is in Cambridge, not London. ;)Quote:

But, now I knowQuote:

Cambridge College is in Cambridge MA, not University of Cambridge!
Anyways, You get more of the theory aspect out of college. If you want to achieve your full "programming potential," you really need to sit down a program as much as you can!
where ever it is....Quote:

Has anyone here been to ITT? A friend and I have been thinking about going there. If anyone has, what's it like?
I wanna go to Digipen College in Washington. They teach classes targeting video game design. All math, physics, and CS classes no other waste of time classes like history.
A broad education is never a waste of time. The more you know, the easier it will be to learn other things. Everything in life follows certain patterns. The more you know about patterns, mathematical, historical or personal, the more you are able to see patterns and use them to your favor.
:D *whistles* Yay, DigiPen.Quote:

That's not to say we don't have other classes. Freshamn in RTIS have to take english, art appreciation, and there's still general classes later on -- Just not as much as other colleges. It's more the ratio that's the kicker. Not many other colleges require on average 7 classes per semester (and some semesters, 8).
Western Michigan University. Luckily the general education requirments aren't too bad. I can get out of taking some of them.Quote:

I remember reading an article about the Digipen College in Canada a long time ago.
I want to go there too, but it's expensive, and there's no room and board, right???
If you're in Michigan you want Michigan Tech for computers. Bet they're having a swell night up there tonight, ha ha.
It's about $13,000 a year -- an extra $1,000 per semester for 2 meals every class day, and you yeah, you have to find an apartment. Right now I'm in an apartment with 2 other people (used to be three other people, but one dropped out halfway through the first semester). It's $1,000 a month for 2 bedroom, 2 bath, living room, dining room, kitchen. 10 minute walk from the school.Quote:

phew -- I've never been happier to be a UF fan ;) :p
I went to UCF. It's hardly a party school:p I still live 5 minutes from the school!Quote:

i bring the party with me ;)
I suggest you stay away from ITT and the like if at all possible. I know a guy who went through there and got a job right after graduation. But was laid off a year or so later once the companies gov't contract ran out (they had to hire a certain number of people to be able to get the contract). Hasnt been able to find a job related to engineering since
>Cambridge College is in Cambridge MA, not University of Cambridge!
the US isnt the only country in the world with colleges ;)
Clown Pimp,
I just meant that Cambridge College was in Cambridge MA, unless there's another Cambridge College in another country.
ITT tech's a non accredited institution. It won't help you much if you want to go to a 4 year college later.
The ITT tech where I live is a 2 year college, and and they try to teach students both c++ and java, along with general educational courses. You can't learn c++ in a 2 year college, not very well at least.
Or there is a Cambridge College in Cambridge MA, but nevermind ;)Quote:
