I beat Doom II earlier this year....around March or so...I also beat every episode of Doom (including the expansion episodes). All of them without the codes.

I am now working on beating the Doom II expansion episodes. Let me tell you...these things are insane...

I remember when I was playing the last episode of Doom, and it was like the 2nd level..and I was caught in a small room with 4 barons. The only place I could walk was on the circular rim of the room, because the entire center was an acid pit...but that same tiny place I had to walk, all of those barons also had to walk. Along with that, I had 1% health, 60 cells, and 20 shotgun shells. I thought that was insane, and after I managed to beat them, I thought nothing could be more insane than that. Oh I was wrong....the levels just kept getting more and more insane...and they keep on doing it...

Doom certainly is one of the best games ever made. It is amazing how insane some of the levels can get.

While I am here, Why dont we have a poll? What is the level that everyone is most scared of in Doom/Doom II?

For me it was this level that I was playing in Doom II: The Plutonia Experiment a few months ago. The only enemies in this level were 20 arch-viles (the guys who shoot fire up from the ground, taking 75% to 100% of your life in one shot). The whole entire level was a close in maze in which you had to really sneak around and make sure corners were clear before you went into the next hallway. I can remember getting freakin scared in that level. And half of the scariness was just the music. That music was so freaky. It was circus music. I'm sorry, but if I was being hunted in a maze by 20 arch-viles, and there was circus music being played over the loud speaker, I would huddle up in a corner and cry. That level was so freaky....

well obviously the most insane part is that big monster head thing in the room where you have to go up the elevator and shoot rockets into its forehead. remember it keeps spawning new monsters and the lava harms you when you go down it

Cool

Heh, 10 years...I just got the game last week from a friend. Oh, and the difficulty was "Hurt Me Plenty", the middle one. Also, where can I get these expansion levels? I can't imagine it getting much worse than level 30. They sound like fun. I need more levels!

Barrels 'o Fun was my favorite level for whoever asked.

DOOM II is now tied for my favorite game of all time with Half-Life and Dance Dance Revolution (DDR owns, I don't care what you guys say).

you can find the expansion episodes anywhere. If you want every episode for Doom I, including the expansion episodes, get on iMesh or Kazaa (I personally like iMesh better) and look for Ultimate Doom. If you want the Doom II expansion episodes, look for Final Doom.

Also, look for Doom 95. It can run any Doom/Doom 2 WAD file (episode) you want under Win32. It is great in the case that you have Windows XP and XP hates DOS.

[edit]
oh, and you may also buy any of these episodes for $10 at any local Walmart

dude, whats with playing all these games? Dont you have better things to do, like have blasting music on (stuff like metalica and SOAD) and just speak to people on MSN and post of cprog, and do some C++ when you can be bothered. Then you mum walks into your room telling you to do some maths or some chores and i'm like friggin hell. This is bullcrap. Whens the last time natalie or amanda did any of that?? Dumb hiporcrites! HIPOCRITES!!!!!!
