    Talking Microsoft Bob

As I was working on my government paper (see my other thread titled "US antitrust policy"), I came along many articles which mentioned something called Microsoft Bob, an operating system that Microsoft created back in 1995 for incompetent users who could not navigate Windows 95. I found it rather funny.

Who here remembers anything about Microsoft Bob?

Here is a site on it if you want to know more about it:

Also, I found something in Windows XP that is still remnant from MS Bob. You know the little dog called Rover that finds your files for you whenever you want to search for files on your computer in WinXP? He came from MS Bob. You can see him on that website above.

    hahaha...Bob...thats funny

Is that the one where your desktop looks like a study or home office? My neighbor still uses it.

Now that brings back memories - i remember ms bob (i was actually working at MS when it was out)... its not an operating system but instead a little gui which works as a layer over whatever version of windows you were using... it was supposed to be more 'user friendly' and thinking back to Windows 3.1 you can see why some people who were not computer literate could get confused.
Ahhh now i am also remembering Microsoft Dogs (not a popular product)

Oh yeah? well i got you all beat, lol. When i got my first windows os (happened to be win95), packard bell (now hewlett packard) bundled it with software called Packard Bell Navigator. You walked around a house clicking on the programs you wanted to use. It was awesome, you couldn't do ANYTHING that would harm the computer, novell eat your heart out.

On my first MS-bundled PC, compaq included "TabWorks" - sort've an interesting GUI that took over program manager.
