ps3 comes out in 2005... at which time they'll probably stop making games for them... right?

Buy a PS2 if you want lots of game choices right now. Buy an XBox if you can wait for more good games to come out. Usually it takes a couple of years before great games start coming out for a particular system.

I have an XBox and have no regrets. Halo...game of the year. You can't go wrong with that especially if you have lots of friends over.

2005 is a looong way away...
Think about how many games will be released from now until then. If I were you, i'd go with the PS2... the XBox is just a giant money-making ploy, what with the DVD controller and other junk.

Plus, the PS2 has the FF series on it

Really? They lose money on a console? Like every1 else does? OH wow.

More games released, more licenses, mountains of cash from every game sold .

    The money will return-guaranteed!

Sony - Broke even if not a little over with ps2, which was funded with sales of radios and walkmans.

XBox - loseing money on xbox.

Nintendo - making money on cube, only company to fund its new console with console sales.

Well, it looks like I'm the outcast, but I'm gonna tell you that Super Monkey Ball 2 is one damn fine reason to buy a cube.

I have cube... anyone wanna compare gamecube to ps2? I just read an article talking about ps2's use of vector units and cpu... They have good hardware they just don't know how to use it... meanwhile nintendo has the full force of a nice cpu and a great graphics card. Any opinion on this?

Oh and if you want to read more about the hardware, go here: http://cube.ign.com/articles/086/086984p1.html

You can sit around a computer and play games with friends. As far as tag team style games go that can be manipulated accurately with a regular pad....go with whatever PS2 cord adapter you want, and buy the Hot Rod SE($200 without tax or shipping) or the X Arcade($200 without tax or shipping). You'll need 2 for 4 player games though. I have one of each and the Hot Rod SE is way better.

    * note: X arcade works on new systems while the Hot Rod SE outperforms the X Arcade in every aspect.
The world is waiting. I must leave you now.

Ive got PS1, and its still running fine. PS/2 would be my choice, plus it comes with a dvd, which is another neat feature.

I dont have a dvd player, well I have one on the comp but, I would get PS/2 so I have a dvd and a game station, not just a game station.

Does ps/2 have a mod chip yet?

You can turn an xbox into a dvd player also. You can get the remote for free with the current promotions. Damn Xbox too cheap to pay the DVD fee so they pass it on to us. Also Xbox comes with a harddrive. You can rip music to it and listen to your own tracks in games like Project Gotham.
