Question Which Java/Javascript books should I buy?

It is time again for me (well my parents, tee hee) to update my computer geek library!!! I am thinking of getting a book on Java by Ivor Horton(if he has one, he's cool) but I also need a book on Javascript and I'd like to hear people's suggestions on both Java and Javascript books.

Okay well LETS ROLL IN THE SUGGESTIONS PEOPLE

www.accu.org - check out the book reviews

For Java, you'll find just about everything you need from the Sun site: http://java.sun.com

I don't do much JavaScript but I have the 'Definitive Guide' by O'Reilly and a book on active server pages that has some JavaScript material in it (Active Server Pages Solutions).

I don't know what to suggest. The book I had for class was the worst book ever possible... can't remember what it was called.

A pretty good book for java, is Java Essentials by Cay Horstman. You can always get Bruce Eckel's (may have spelled that wrong) online java book too. We use that too.

my dad has a Ivor Horton's java book...although I don't like java that much, but i found ivor's book to be quite good...it's HUGE though(i'm sure u know that!)!!

i would probably suggast learning java instead of js if you r not into webdesign, otherwise learn javascript!! it's more fun!

Just Java by Peter van der Linden is my favorite. Data Structures and Algorithms in Java by Robert Lafore is also good.
