GM's Hy-Wire

Take a look at this: http://www.gm.com/company/gmability/...lls/index.html and http://www.wired.com/news/technology...,55390,00.html what do you think? I like the ability to see more out the front but the steering is kinda weird and i think might be kinda hard but who knows till you try?

I think for GM to manufactuer and sell a vehicle like this in our current technology at a fair price is impossible.

Drive-by-wire technology has been around long enough that it's possible to now make for a decent price, and I think most of the possible mistakes have been worked out (what happens when battery dies? ). It allows for near mistake free driving, because when an inexperianced driver gets behind the wheel and makes a mistake, the vehicle can spot this mistake and correct for it.

As the same, I'd love to see fuel cell powered cars at some point in the future... but now is not the future. The technology is simply beyond usefullness now. The cost/effiecency is way off the mark of even some of the biggest gas hog engines out there.

Drive-by-wire is good. Fuel cells will be good. Together they are too much for a current vehicle.
