    Yeah, if you do this -

    stand toward the north.
    Proclaim - "Isis um bakumbi";
    turn to the east.
    Proclaim - "Baal du somanki";
    turn to the south.
    Proclaim - "Ra so koj";
    Finally turn west and
    Proclaim - "Akum sur red umki";

    Do this at dawn and dusk (for at least 40 days and nights) and you'll see the world as it really is.

    No, this is a ritual for you to do, and only you. It'll give you special ESP powers. Just try it.

    No, I don't believe in magic. TO ME magic is like religion; in which I won't further elaborate.

    Then I suggest you try the above ritual. It was designed for datainjector, but what the hell it'll probably work for the masses (I don't want to sound one like one of those catholic fruitcakes, mind you).

    Believe me.

    I'm not actually that big of a believer of magic, but i do beleive the fact that there is something "truly-magical" out there. i mean if there wasn't, why would so many ppl practise and believe in it? and the black magics of the older times, i know they were real.
    oh i'm sorry! i didn;t realize my fist was rushing to meet ur face!

    This is perhaps the cleverest thing I've ever read. Now go to my ritual, I command thee.

    Why did so many believe the earth is flat?

    Basically by that one single question your whole argument is flawed. Humans of large masses are capable of making mistakes or having false believings.

    Hell no.

    "but i do beleive the fact that there is something "truly-magical" out there. i mean if there wasn't, why would so many ppl practise and believe in it?"

    ..... in the past of course people believed in magic, anything that could not be explained was immediately labled magic. Today people who practise "real magic", are either frauds or simply deluding themselves.

    "and the black magics of the older times, i know they were real."

    No, they weren't, old women got burned at the steak because of people got sick and they didnt know why.

    (incidently one of the larger witch burnings was recently explained: in some village people started going crazy, screaming that their skin was on fire, that there were monsters in the room etc. etc. of course it was deemed a "magical curse", and woman over the age of 50 was burnt at the stake......... turns out that their crop of rice had been contaminated by a yeast that produces a chemical very similar to LSD....)

    The only magic that exists, is the stuff Copperfield does.

    "It was designed for datainjector"

    datainjector?

    "You missed a few: deluding others, getting rich on the gullibility of others...."

    That comes under frauds (Uri Geller being the most prominant example i can think of right now)

    "Painful that, when your steak gets burned"

    Hah, yea =)

    "Would you happen to have more info on this "

    I read the article in the paper a while ago, it may well have been rye rather than rice. The name rings a bell, so i think it is the same fungus.

    "His observation that we tend to recall 'success' and ignore 'failure', miserably skews our appreciation of the 'facts' ie people want to believe. "

    Yup, thats quite well documented, its why people are poor at judging coincidences: They forget all the non-coincidences that have happened.
