    is greenland a country?

I had always thought it was either an intermatinal chunk of land (like south pole), or a part of another country (say, Canada)... but I just saw the flag for it. Does anyone know whether or not it's a country and what the poeple would be called (if there are any).

    Here's the flag:

It's part of the Kingdom of Denmark actually but is self governing.

The world's largest island, about 84% ice-capped, Greenland was granted self-government in 1978 by the Danish parliament. The law went into effect the following year. Denmark continues to exercise control of Greenland's foreign affairs.

    noun: Greenlander(s)

    adjective: Greenlandic
