    I guess as long as people know what you're talking about, either way would be accepted.

    Everyone I know says GUI as "gooey". I've never heard someone pronounce it "gee yew eye".

    gee yew eye

    But then I dont work in IT so the common way of refering to things often escapes me.....

    I think saying gooey is rediculous.......same as that SQL/sequel thing.......

    Sounds like something dreamed up by a marketing guy;

    "I dont understand it...I dont want to understand it...but I'll give it a silly name to divert people's attentions from my ignorance on the subject"

    I've heard people use both 'gooey' and 'g-u-i', although I prefer the latter.

    I think perhaps back in the darker ages of computing, some intelligent person came up with the graphic user interface and called it a G-U-I for short, and a littler farther down the road an idiot pronounced it gooey...and he told other idiots, and soon people were brought up saying gooey....and today the word is in widespread use. It's almost sad.....

    note: not a put down to those who use the word gooey, but i beleive that if you talked to a professional about your favorite gooey, he'd probably give you his spare pocket change and a pat on the head......lol
