wow. 6 pages in one day. outstanding.

... so, ... how 'bout 'dem red sox? doing better this year, but do you think they'll win the pennant? or maybe the world series? (i know the chances of world peace are higher than a red sox world series win... but it doesn't hurt to be optimistic.)

Wake up to this - there are too many stupid Americans who **** up that image. Most Americans are arrogant and dumb****s. People have plenty of reasons to hate us. If America would pull its head out of its ass we might be able to fix that.

Yeah I live near LA, near Malibu, near Hollywood, the epitomes of everything I just said. So maybe I'm overdoing it.

I think the problem is some people are generalizing Americans. The only thing that all Americans have in common is the fact that we live in America. Try to give us all another trait that we don't share with the rest of the world and you're a bigoted imbecile.

There's a lot of stupid people in America, but I think the ratio is the same in all parts of the world.

I mean, if you want to call me a name, at least make sure you're judging me and not your personified vision of the typical American...

ROFL! Whoever posted that is one hilarious dude...

You know, I agree to an extent with this person. Canada announced they were decriminalizing marijuana, and big brother (the US government) threatens to do all kinds of things. It's rather sad...

Haha, ygf, you're the **** man!

    Exactly.
Somebody give me one country that doesn't have dumb people aswell as intelligent people, aswell as rednecks, etc...

A country is put to the test when they ellect their leader (if their leader is ellected...), becuase then you will see if the majority of the countries population is smart or not (ie. if they ellect some street bum, the results are obvious...) I think America is quite smart, for this reason. Despite popular belief, I think Bush is pretty good. I also think that Australia's prime miniter is just as good.

    >Shiro, no offense to you, but can you tell me the last time the
    >US invaded someone and stayed there keeping the land?

That is not where it is about. The point still is that the US has accepted
a law which makes it legal for US troops to get out US citizens from the
International Court. I don't mind if it is the International Court, but I
don't like the words "invasion in the Netherlands", which are used in the
media. Since this sounds like an action against the Netherlands, which may
result in a conflict, since we are a proud country and don't let other troops
    go into our country.

I'm suprised how many people don't take time to replace their point of
view to anothers point of view. I've replaced my point of view to the
American during the discussion and I can understand very well that US is
protecting their citizens and wants to protect them from international
laws which are against US laws.

But that was not, where it all was about. Let's turn it around and assume
that the ICC was not located in the Netherlands, but in the US. And now
assume that some Arabic people are brought to the ICC for trial. As we all
know, the Arabic countries don't like the US very much. So I can imagine
that they soon say that the trial is unfair. If those Arabic countries
will accept the same law as the US is wanting, then that would mean that
troops from Arabic countries would go to the US and free them.

Some may say this is an ridicoulous idea, but don't forget that the
American senate has the same plans. Would you accept foreign troops to
go to your country to free their citizens? Probably not, so why should
we in the Netherlands accept foreign troops to free their citizens?

    >I think the problem is some people are generalizing Americans.

The problem is that most people outside American don't know much about
the American people, but they all can read about American politics in
papers or see it on TV. So for a lot of people, American politics is
equal to America. In the city where I live, there used to live a lot of
Americans, NATO soldiers. So I know that there are many sorts of
Americans, just like in other countries. And as pointed out in an older
post I realised that the title of my thread was wrong.

Yeah.... well... you are talking about hostile countries coming in to take back personnel. Little bit different than the US, who doesn't dislike the Netherlands, making a proclamation that if things are not to standard, that they will take action.

But I understand that this would be bad in any light for either of our countries.

Still, this follows along my statements earlier... Arabian countries would just come into the Netherlands and take a prisoner... without warning. The US is informing the ICC that they reserve the right to come get their people with military might if deemed necessary.

This is a political ploy and nothing more. The brute flexing its muscles so that it can have better bargaining when needed... along with a firm stance on what is acceptable and not.

If the ICC determines that a US citizen is to be executed by guillotine for hitting a cat, the US is reserving the right to step in and say no way. You say... that will never happen. Who would get executed for hitting a cat? Correct. It won't. And neither will military troops in your country. See the point.

And my previous flame, built from your predisposition of dislike for America, was that you are very discriminatory in your thoughts of Amercian people. We cannot be grouped together. We are individuals... and are certainly at odds with eachother most of the time on policy as any democracy is. I don't usually agree with half of the things my government does, but there are many that disagree with me. Majority wins... we are not a dictatorship under the mighty rule of Betazep.

The nicest, and dare I say truest, thing you have said yet.
